new guitar day - the early pics are in!

my 1996 korean epi les paul standard honeyburst. thanks to GNR4EVR for his advice on this one!

here's the pics of it on my bed, straight out the box. more to follow when

a) the sun shines, and

b) i've pimped it.

yeah, it's a funny one. it looks almost like a plain top from certain angles, then the flame just pops out when you catch it in light or from a different angle. i love it, and i FINALLY have a 'proper' epi with the honeyburst colour that makes my tummy go funny. i'll put a pic of my two honeyburst guitars next to each other on, and you'll see how close they are. i still wasn't happy though.

Yeah I see what ya mean .... both look really nice, though. Again, HNGD !!! My Epi honeyburst is more "brown-ish" (although in direct sunlight it gets so "light" it almost looks like trans amber .... it's weird

Re: new guitar day - the early pics are in!

thanks brian. i'm going to put a pickguard on and stick some Catswhisker pickups in as well. the only question is, should i put the set of Peter Green style covered pups that i have spare in, or swap the cream/black due seen in the other honeyburst above? i'm not sure i want the middle position to be out of phase on this guitar, as i feel it's going to get a lot of use...

Thanks, man ..... although... heh... now that I've had it for a couple of years, I'm kind of over the flame ... the top on your new one is extremely cool - not as plain as a plaintop, not as flamed as a run of the mill flame top ... kind of an in-betweenie-top A keeper based on looks alone

snaredrum, I couldn't help but notice your LickLibrary DVD in the background. I bought their GnR and Van Halen DVDs and thought they were pretty decent. How do you like the blues DVD you've got there?

yeah, they're pretty good. i have that one, the page one and the clapton one. i like them as you can just dip into them and find out how to do a particular riff, without having to sit through loads of boring stuff.
