The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
Looks very nice IMO. This "Faded Cherryburst" finish is beautiful, but hugely too bad that it doesn't have the more traditional tear-drop pattern. Looks more like one of the newer edge-burst Standards from Gibson, and hell thats not too bad of a thing. Flame-veneer looks fairly deep and rich, build seems ok by the pics. Spec-wise, this guitar is loaded for an Epi, very cool in that regard. BUT!!!!!!!!!! As I've stated on this topic before, There still seems to be the "oh shit, hide the mystery wood and seams" BACK mahogany-veneer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! This pisses me off!!!!! Oh well. I'm mixed on this for the most part. If I was to go with one it'd definately be the faded iced tea finish where it has the tear-drop burst pattern. But at this point, for a $100 less, the same construction and upgraded spec levels, I think the Tribute might be the better buy.
Well, here are the Sweetwater in-stock photos........... Guitar Gallery | Sweetwater.com |

Yeah, 4000 posts of pure speculation. This is the first with more real pics. And its a lot more than an Epi with Gibson pickups......

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
[QUOTE=dennistruckdriver;1248412]Dude, why would you be 'pissed'? It's just another 'special' model of Epiphone! What do you guys expect?
True, but if you buy a PRS SE, BC Rich, Schecter, Washburn, Agile, Michael Kelly, they actually use some sort of mahogany "species" for their necks and bodies, you see the actual wood grain just like other "real" guitars, no mahogany veneers on the back or neck. Just a big let down to me, I can't help it. I've played and owned Epi's since the early 90's, and this "hide the many pieces of mystery wood" only started in the last few years. VERY dissapointing to me! Thats all... Oh, and several was like, 7 or more I always thought...... |

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
No, it's really not. It might have some unique specs when compared to Epi LP Standards, but it is, in fact, and Epiphone with Gibson pickups.

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
its an epi with a long tenon neck joint, thumb cutters, gibson pickups. nothing more, nothing less. oh... and the 59 trc.
they could have at least gone with out the bushings and gave it the correct bridge

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
And the SN is stamped, and it appears to have no headstock lamination - indicating a 1 piece neck (probably a 2 piece heel...). Correct Gibson headstock angle as well, possibly?
But hey - don't let that stop anyone from being a DICK in response to what I find to be a useful thread with the first *real* pix that I've seen of this guitar. What there are 4,000 of are MLP members with some form of "Zeppelin" in their screen name. |

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
NLP - the Tribute does seem to be a good buy. These specs, with push pulls, and a hard case, for what, $800?
I think that this guitar is a step in the right direction for Epiphone China. |

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
I hope you weren't referring to me. I wasn't trying to be a dick; I was just stating fact. It is an Epiphone with Gibson pickups. Even if it has different specs, it is still an Epiphone with Gibson pickups.

![]() YES, it is an Epiphone - BUT - it has many improvements IMO over the regular run of the mill Epi. Basically, these are the "Slash" models with some aesthetic changes. Still, a step up over what Epiphone has been making recently. |

Nah...Not really....
![]() I never wanted the guitar version of a spatula... ![]() As for the Studio... ![]() Same neck profile....Gibson pickups...American made. The one I own still munches most other guitars I've played for breakfast.

Re: The New Epi '59 Les Paul (pics)
Okay for $900, I'm out (along with anyone in their right mind). But I will say, I owned the Slash for a while and it was wayyyy better than any other Epi I've played, so this will probably be a decent guitar.
As far as dogging on the OP. You can only make fun of noobs for re-posts. DICKS!!!
