Nut and machine head replacement: how to and with what?
Hello MLP community!
Thought id break my cherry here on MLP with a question about replacing the nut on my Epi LP Prophecy EX. As a generally capable guitar tinkerer id like to know if anyone has any tips for how to do it and what NOT to do. Also, what is best: bone or tusq? Same difference? Ive read countless times that a good nut will improve sustain greatly and as im having some frett buzz problems and suspect the nut is part of the problem i.e not properly cut, a change is due. I also want to swap the Grover machine heads with locking Grovers. Is this a case of just swaping out one for the other? No routing etc is required? Thanks in advance on any hints or tips. |
