Almost had 3 heart attacks

Hi Everyone

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I just have to share the following with you. Wednesday night, when I came back from practice, I just put my guitar down on the floor in my hobbyroom. (first fault)

Last night I went looking for somthing in that room, and knowing where it was, I did not bother to put on the light. (second fault) First I bumped my toe into the case, lost my balance, then regained my balance by putting my heel right throuh my guitar case. I nearly died!

Knowing my guitar was still in the case, I could only pray that it was not damaged. Fortunately when I opened the case, there was not even a mark on my Epi - phew!

What makes this story more interesting, is that Epi's and Gibsons are not sold in South Africa anymore, so even if the insurance paid out, getting my Epi replaced would have been one hell of a task. Just getting it in the first place took me almost two years untill I found one in an obscure little music shop.

Now more than ever I believe there is a God, and He must love Epi's!

Here are a couple of pics of my guitars and the case I stepped on.

My Accoustic is a Washburn D10S. The Epi is a Standard LP Plus top

Re: Almost had 3 heart attacks

Welcome to the world of MLP! Was that an original Epi case or a knock-off HSC? Trying to build good rep towards Epi if possible I'd be known to do the very same thing (my spare room is a trip over/squeeze through maze just to enter it let alone hang out there). And if a heart attack didn't kill me then the self inflicted rage would have!!

Welcome to MLP! May I suggest getting an SKB LP style case, if they sell them near you. They're tough as nails (Mine has fallen out of the back of many a truck D'oh! ) and they come with a lifetime warranty, should you ever manage to step through it again

Re: Almost had 3 heart attacks

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the hearty welcome!

@ Panky O-Tae : The case is no-name generic that came with my guitar. It did an excellent job though.

@ Byron999: HEHEHEHE - But the stilletos are so comfortable!

@ Jimmypagekills: Thanks, I'll see if one of our local suppliers stock those. It looks really nice. Hope I can find one for my accoustic as well. I only have a gigbag for my Washburn, but after this incident both guitars are getting proper cases!

Who in their right mind would want a broken case? That just completely defeats the purpose of a case and why it was made/invented.

Re: Almost had 3 heart attacks

Jimmy

Just for interest sakes - I went online to search for that SKB cases from local retailers, and found the following:

- Epiphone hard case = US$ 415 at the current exchange rate
- SKB LP Hardcase = US$ 388 at the current exchange rate.

EINA! (Afrikaans for OUCH!)

Re: Almost had 3 heart attacks

They're pretty steep here too. My case cost me $120 and that's in America! Perhaps FleaBay will have some good deals if the shipping isn't outrageous.
