Zakk Wylde Donates Epi LP....

Pretty cool. One of my friends on another forum (former Marine) is running a charity program called Guitars for Grunts...he takes guitars and sends them to troops from all services over in the desert.

Here's a link to the Epi LP Zakk donated...and autographed. What a guy.

Not a real fan of the man (or should I say the "character/persona," since I don't know him personally) nor his music (nor the guitar, particularly), but that's damn cool he'd do that. I can respect his action

I guess I'd have to say I'm a big fan of Zakk's. There's very little bullsh!t involved when it comes to this man... He's got a very black and white outlook on things... right and wrong. Plus he one of the few professional musicians who doesn't bend over and take it from the music industry... I reckon behind the tough exterior he's a gentle giant... you can hear it in some of his music... plus he's the only musician I hear constant stories about his generousity and this here is another example of that.

I'm also a big fan of Zakk's, and as Mikeeeeeh stated, there are all sorts of stories about his generosity. For example, during the Canadian leg of the Ozzy tour this winter, I read two different stories of him letting kids choose any guitar they wanted from stores that were holding meet and greets. A kid in Saskatchewan chose a new Epi SG of some sort, and a kid in Halifax took him to the cleaners and grabbed a Gibson Bullseye

More importantly, he is also currently raising one million dollars for St. Judes, and there is a slideshow that shows him performing there, and handing out BLS merch and spending time with the kids.

That being said, the man also drinks like a fish, and unfortunately, sometimes seems to come across as a complete asshat because of it.

The Zakk Epi got deployed to a Marine station in Baghdad, along with a Fender amp.

Also, for those that may not have heard it, Zakk's solo effort "Book of Shadows" is one of my faves. Not P&G and not BLS - but some really cool mellower stuff.
