Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
Oh, are they finally gonna make this available to the world outside of Japan? Wonder what this one will cost.

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
If they put the price anywhere near the Slash sigs, I think it could aswell be more than $1000. What I don't understand is, they're selling the '59 in Japan for quite some time now.

Wow, both are really cool. Wish I could get one of those 59' reissues, but I just bought my epiphone a little while ago. Does anyone know a price?

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
I wonder if the neck will actually be fatter than other Epiphones? I think it's pretty cool they are putting Burstbuckers in it. If it retails for $1000 no way I would even consider it but if it was cheaper I'd think about it if it has a fatter neck.

Eh, it might be worth lookin' into. The pickups look to be good. I'm just sort of looking at this guitar and shrugging, though. I dunno... I was always under the impression that the '59 neck profile wasn't a favorite amongst a lot of players. Anyway... PS: I really hope they're not going to dip that guitar into vat of polyeurethane before selling it. |

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
You know, those 59's don't do much for me. I'm sure they're very nice guitars, but my gut reaction is kind of "so what." The Wilshire's I think are damn ugly, but I would withold judgement until I played one.

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
Well, the last Epi LP with specs like that was the Slash sig and we know how much they charged for that one (and they made 441 more of those).

I wonder how many of the 1959 guitars are gonna make it to the rest of the world, after they've been selling those in Japan for a few months, already. |

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
Let me add...Sentry made a point a while back that Epi should focus more on its original lines than it's Gibby copies, or something to that effect. Not that it would ever happen, the LP's, SG's and the like are the bread and butter for them, but I do find that their exclusives perk my eyes and ears up a bit more than their "sister" guitar series. Not bagging on them, lots of people have great Epi's, but as far as what I look for when shopping, those catch my eye more.

![]() But seriously...OK, there's this '59 "Epi take"....but would you really want to get this vs. an older MIJ model or an elitist? And if they want more than a 1000 bucks for it, would it be worth it to go for this guitar, or look into an actual Gibson or even a Tokai or Edwards? I guess either way, some folks out there seriously eyeballin' these guitars will have some serious issues to consider. I suspect those aren't gonna be cheap at all. |

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
I will mention that people love the epiphone elitist guitars and were willing to pay over $1000 for them. How comparable this is to the elitist remains to be seen.

Country of Origin is still a big deal to a lot of people. Japan has gotten to the point where their guitars are just as respected as the US, and some believe they are better The Wilshire looks cool. I may have to pick one up just to add some mini-buckers to my stable

Let alone that Epiphone clearly lied to the customers, stating that the Slash sig has a 1 piece neck when they in fact have 2 piece necks. |

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
i don't have much to contribute besides the fact that i think their '59 reissues would sell better if they aged the hardware. just my 2 cents.

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
Maybe it's me but does anyone think that the burst on those Epiphones in the Japanese ads are really ugly. IMO, they don't capture the burst look at all. Hopefully the other finishes are better looking...

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
If they'd put an ABR-1 bridge on there and would have used acrylic lacquer or something instead of thick poly, I think I might have sold off a guitar and gotten one of these as a beater - depending on price. I wonder what kind of headstock angle they have, doesn't say anything about that in the spec list.
I think they did right by changing the hardware to nickel and putting Klusons on there. Burstbuckers are surely better than the standard pickups that come with Epiphones, too!

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
For $799 you can get a Vintage Mahogany Studio. It has the burstbuckers, and is already wired correctly.
If you think the top is worth $300+, then feel free. But that Gibson is pretty much a Standard...for under 1k. I own it and it's everything you'd want in a LP...except the chambered body is a slight disappointment. But...more people enjoy the lighter weight LP..not me.

Re: New Epi Les Pauls just announced
Something very similar to that 50th anniversary model has been kicking around at Ishibashi for the past year. They unveiled it as a collaboration model between Epiphone and Ishibashi instruments. Our good buddy Lifele55 found it last August.
