It didn't work quite well. My SG-400 has serial code UC07111179 and it don't recognise the UC letters. The rest is easy but still.... Anybody on the letters UC?

the epi lp standard I used to own had the UC serial number as well.
according to the Epiphone Les Paul FAQ
UC = Unsung - Origin - China

That guitar was probably made in 2001.
I have two LP's made at that plant. One from 96 with serial B0610xxx, and a 98 with serial B0810xxx.

I'm glad this thread has come up as I'm getting ready to try to decipher the code for a newer Epi. I know it's from China, but I'm unsure of the year.

the most accurate way to decode a serial number is to call the Gibson customer service number. They'll let you know what you've got, where & when it was made, etc...

funny thing is mine is F301000, all stamped into the back of the headstock.

Than your's a Tribute or a 1959 model, they do have a new serial-system,
which is not yet known,
F in this case is not Fujigen, BTW

....that's why I said "used on most Epis"

well you learn somethin everyday. i went out lookin for a standard to replicate a 59' model, bought burstbuckers to put in it. and all along i had an epi limited edition 59 LP Standard that already had burstbuckers in it lol. looks like ill probably take the extra set of burstbuckers and just put em in a strat Jimmy Herring style.

I think have a 59' LP Standard but mine doesn't have the push/pull knobs, It has "USED" stamped on the back of the headstock with a new serial number but it covers the old one and I can read F301 and they burnt the remaining numbers.

the serial on my guitar is on the back of the body on that metal plate where the neck is bolted on and it doesn't have any letters... it's made in Indonesia, the site didn't even recognize the serial.

I am having trouble ID'ing this Epiphone!
On the headstock it says Special Model with a Gibson plate (truss rod cover) on the Back of the headstoock is Stamped the numbers 2ND
on the plate where the neck screws on is this number: C197116398

I have tried a lot of sites (even the Guitar dater project listed above) posted it on the Gibson/Epiphone forum for a few days to no avail...
I Need to sell it, (heart attack just after I lost unemployment, and no insurance or savings ) I know it may not be worth anything, but with 2ND impressed in headstock it may be? I have had it a few years, it was used in a music store that is no longer in business , (in Bryson City NC) when I bought it.

So... can any of you experts here identify it?

If thats correct then that also means that my guitar was sitting in a box waiting for me to pick it out for a little bit more than a year.
