Aging fretboard inlays

If you came here hoping to see how to do it, this is exactly what I'm asking.

Guys, again I need your help. I want to age my epi les paul fretboard inlays(and bindings if possible), so, how can I do that properly? I heard about aging it with dye, but I want to hear from you, what you'd suggest me to do?

Thank you for your attention!

My vote for aging a fretboard would be play it hard everyday for years, rarely if ever cleaning it...... your finger sweat, skin oil, and action/friction will definitely age it. Although, I'm sure you mean artificially "age" it, and I don't play that game.... good luck

Re: Aging fretboard inlays

You will have a very hard time aging the binding and inlays. The inlays are plastic, not mother of pearl. Also the binding has polyurethane on top, which pretty much will block out any way of aging. Also I think it is a different type of binding that Epiphone uses.

Re: Aging fretboard inlays

If you Scrape the Binding with a Razor Blade, removing the Poly,it can then be done.I`ve done one,but unless you are confident enough to take on scraping with a Blade,i would encourage you not to do it.It does work though. As for the Inlays, forget it,they`re Mother of Toilet Seat.

Re: Aging fretboard inlays

Unless its done really well, from someone whos really good at it, like Jonesy, I don't like it. Even the Road worn series from Fender, the fret boards look like shit.

Anyone here think that looks good?
