Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

If you had both of them in front of you which one would you pick?

Why?

I am having trouble deciding and need to hear some other opinions.

Keep in mind the scenario is that they are both free but you can only pick one or the other not both.

Thanks
Dan

Re: Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

purely because it's a Gibson, i would take it, but that's me being blindly ignorant and taking what it says on the headstock. Play both and ignore the headstock, it's a choice you need to make.

Les Paul Traditional Pro.
That is one SWEET guitar.
For $1999 it can't be beat.
Has everything I want on it except a TP-6.

The Gibson is a better guitar - no questions asked - not even close.

Re: Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

I have a Slash Signature THAT I LOVE!!!!!! Im SAYING LOVE!!! but...I rather have a real Gibson ....why get a substitute when you can have the real deal..yeah you will save yourself $900 with the Slash, and they are GREAT guitars, worth every penny.. but you will also have resale value with the Gibson, kind of like getting a Harley over a Kawasaki......but.. if you get the Slash, you will be happy also, because they are great guitars

No question, I would take the Gibson. Plain and simple because it's a better guitar.

Re: Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

For one thing, I like to chase my own tone. Buying a signature guitar kinda defeats that purpose. Least that's my opinion.

Plus, I like the spec's of the traditional better.

Well... by that logic.... buying a Les Paul in general would defeat the purpose of chasing your own tone then.

BTW I voted for the Gibson Traditional PRO cause I've heard GREAT things about them and I think it's a cool slightly uniquely designed LP.

Although I know the Slash also a great guitar.

Re: Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

WHAT!? Who is this "Les Paul" you speak of!?

I'm sure that the Slash is a great guitar - and if I had one of each in front of me, it is possible that I'd prefer the individual Slash model over the individual Traditional Pro - but without having a chance to go hands on, I'll wager on the Gibson being a better guitar.

As a side note, I just got my Epi Custom back from the luthier, and it now plays as good as any guitar I've ever owned - and sounds great as well...

Gibson Traditional, although I've never played one, surely beats any Epiphone (no need to mention that).

They don't beat any Epiphone. If the question would've been 'Gibson Traditional or Epiphone Elite/Elitist Standard', I think I would've chosen the Epiphone

There it is.

If you've sat down and played both of them you probably wouldn't have posted this poll.

I say traditional because it's not a signature so you can get your own sound out if it.

I don't get this. Just because The guitar has Slash's name on it doesn't mean you're going to sound like slash or can only get slash like sounds. You buy a signature guitar because it has the specs that suit you that aren't available on standard issue guitars. The fact that it also happens to be the specs that another player likes can just be a bonus or a drawing factor to the guitar.Well enough of that rant...

I chose the Traditional. There's no doubt in my mind that it is a better guitar. If you can afford it I don't even think the Slash should be considered. If I had Maserati money I wouldn't be looking at Hondas

That just shows you're only going to sound like Slash if you play the Slash LP.

Re: Slash Sig. Goldtop or Gibson Traditional Pro?

Trad. PRO FTW! I've played a few trads. and they are terrific guitars. I think the case is that you need to try both of them out if possible and choose for yourself what is best for you. Now just because everyone on here says the Gib. doesn't mean that it will you suit you best. You may try them out and the Epi. may suit you best. Best of luck to you man with your purchase.

Didn't he say like he'd get them for free?? Or was that just to get the 'if you can/can't afford' stuff out of the equation?
