I,m a little dissappointed,Today in bright sunlight I could count the pieces of timber in the body
three in the main body two in a rear veneer the maple cap(veneer) And in the neck the main piece heel bit scarf joint ears I think my guitar is made from leftovers it is a 06 cherry burst STD + top in Australia this is a relatively expensive instrument weighing in at full retail $1200. |

Re: How many pices of timber in your Epi?
Hehe, don't worry, that's totally normal for Epiphones. Even those super pricey Slash signatures have a 3 piece body and a 2 piece neck (glued on heel).
My '92 LP Standard Plus has 3 piece body Maple cap + flame maple veneer 3 piece neck (heel + neck + scarf jointed headstock) No back veneer and headstock ears, though. |

3 in the body
3 on the neck (heel, neck, headstock at the nut...no wings) Sometimes I've seen some Epi LP's that have more pieces added to the upper/lower curved areas that they weren't able to cover with the body cut....so they would be up to 6 pieces maybe.

Re: How many pices of timber in your Epi?
ehhhh don't worry about it.. if it plays sweet and feels good it doesn't matter.. American Strats have 3 peice bodies with a veneer.. mexicans have 4 to 5 peice. Its pretty standard..if your guitar resonates nicely then theres no issue.. if you strum it unplugged and it sounds good, your Golden, if you feel the body vibrate nicely when you strum it then its good...

Re: How many pices of timber in your Epi?
Totally normal.
Even Gibsons have the headstock wings (all of 'em do). It really doesn't matter nor make much of a difference. A well glued joint is stronger than the wood around it. Every Fender I own has a multi piece body as well - even the $2k American Vintage Reissues have multi piece bodies and thick poly base coats. I just took one of my Korean Epis in for a luthier setup. It is a fun guitar that sounds very good - despite being made from crap woods using shoddy construction methods. Thats why they're cheap, boys! They can't build them to Gibson specs and then sell them for a few hundred bucks... |

Exactly! Although, they're not that cheap anymore.

The "Dicemans suggested best value model" Epiphone Goth Studio and Studio are still VERY cheap for a set neck carved top Les Paul!!!
