My '56 Goldtop Reissue came!
Hello, everyone! My '56 Goldtop Reissue just came in, so I decided to take some pics!
Forgive the poor quality of the photos and bits of styrofoam. It's an older camera and I was too excited to take pictures before cleaning it up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Check back here later. I'm currently in the process of removing some of the stickers, taking out the bits of styrofoam, and getting her ready for a nicer photo-op. EDIT: By the way, it plays beautifully. The P-90s sound GREAT and don't really provide very much feedback, even when close to my amp. I've heard the stock ones on these have a habit of doing that, but I've yet to experience it. Perhaps I got lucky? I dunno. If you're considering buying a Standard in the near future, I'd highly recommend spending a little more for the Goldop Reissue while you still can. After having played a bunch of MIC Standards, I can say I have no regret going with this one! |

Those are nice. Look here:Tone Tip for '56 Goldtop.... for a cool trick for better bridge pickup output.

You lucky chap, that's quite a beauty you got there. I've always liked P90s and you've got a great finish. But I ponder, wont it be hard to take off those stickers?

Re: My '56 Goldtop Reissue came!
Well, the stickers on the pickups and the pick guard came off quite easily. I don't intend on taking the ones on the back of the headstock off just yet. Maybe the "Handcrafted in China", but it's good for now.
The pickguard looks like it just came off of the lathe because there's still some plastic frizzy stuff on the edges. I'm currently in the process of removing the whole thing to get it all off as well as cleaning up the rest of the guitar. I'll have some nicer pics up later. Thanks, everyone! :-) |
