Screech Problem

I have had Gibson 490 pickups wired in my Les Paul Standard and every time I play on the bridge pickup, it makes a screeching noise like the kind that microphones can make if they are moved wrong. Any suggestions?

Re: Screech Problem

What kind of amp are you playing through?

If it has a gain control, how high is the gain set?

How close to the amp are you?

All of these things can be factors.

Re: Screech Problem

lower the bridge pup a little bit, or lower the volume.

Re: Screech Problem

i had your problem with a pup with a cover on it and it screeched something terrible and i took the cover off and put some wax from a scented candle in there then melted it and it was fine

Dude! Iwas so going to do that last night!

I was waiting for the issue to get resolved so I didn't come accross as disrespectful. But it was the first thing that popped in my mind when I read the title.

NICE JOB!!
