Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

You've done a great job. Better than I would have done.
With those skills, you can probably reshape any headstock you want. If you keep practicing at it, you could maybe open up a shop that reshapes headstocks or something.

Like guitarman said, you could put some decals on there. A glossy finish over the paint would look cool too.

Good luck.

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

The reshaping process is going very well so far. It's getting better than before, and even more similar to Gibson's. I don't know how'd you call in US, but I just bought a Poly stuff, which goes all over the wood, so the ink won't penetrate into the wood when it gets dry. Then I'll spray black ink, spray the logo using stencil process, then spray veneer and it's done.More pics to come when I get the time.

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

looks good. it makes me feel better about bashing and cracking the finish on my g400 headstock. i guess i could reshape it! but then again i've come to like it as i think it looks like a big giraffe. i wonder if anyone will mod their guitar headstock orange and black! i wish i could do that.

I think I will be getting an Epiphone decal, that's great, and I'm glad I got this work done!

Wow, that's cool. Didn't know that about the Slash models.
The 'normal' Epis have a 14 degrees pitch, though.

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

Can someone please help me and tell what color my Les Paul is? See, it varies depending on the environment light...sometimes it seems to be Cherry SB or Heritage Cherry (I can't tell the difference between them) and sometimes it's darker, like Honey or something.

Check it out

I want to know EXACTLY what color it is.

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

Well guys, it's just that I don't know it's tech name, either Cherry Sunburst or Heritage Cherry etc and I don't even know whether it's Flamed top or Plus top (my favorite is plain top, though). If you people are not able to help, let's wait for the hero who will give it's color name...

It's just curiosity, btw, it's not vital to me.

Sorry, man! I planned to get back here to give you a 'real' answer but I forgot! My bad.

The thing is, Cherry Sunburst and Heritage Cherry are just two variations of the same thing, Heritage Cherry Sunburst. It's just that some inexperienced people (yes, even guitar stores) don't always use the official name. So, the official name of your guitar's finish is Heritage Cherry Sunburst.

As for the top, same thing. Plus top is the offical name and means that the guitar has a flame top.

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

Hey Chuck that's good to hear(read lol)! But dude, I've been searching for the Clear Lacquer Spray, and guess what...they don't sell it anywhere. I asked for every ink salesman around here, they say they've never seen such thing like Lacquer Spray (here we say "Laca"). But I have a clear Veneer Spray, will it fit?

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

They dont sell Lacquer in Rio??...How about Polyurethane??...a shot of clear Poly will do the same thing, It creates a smooth surface for the decal to adhere to, try a PAINT store, Lacquer is a PAINT so is Polyurethane...well coatings anyway, I dont think you'd find it in a INK store...but then your in Rio and Im here...I can find out if I can ship it, and if I can I'll send ya a can so you can get this done, I know you're ready to play that axe....!
Peace...

Re: My Epi Headstock Reshape

Yes, my bad, I tried every paint store around here(mischanged the words, Paint for Ink)...They don't sell SPRAY Lacquer, they DO have Lacquer, but not the Spray.(they said they never seen Spray Lacquer). Oh, and also tried the Internet, searching on local stores websites, and found nothing. I bought a clear spray a few days ago, perhaps it will do just fine, so I think there's no need to send me the Lacquer.

And Shifty, that's alright man, thank you for the answer! Now it's clear to me! Thank you!
