What a laugh!

take a look at this, i was searching around the Marshall micro stacks, the ZW one in particular and stumbled upon this *ehem* 'bargain.'

Marshall Zakk Wylde MG15MSZW Micro Stack Amp (Discontinued) | Dawsons Music

Now i know that it's discontinued, but that's just stupid!

oh yeah, and just wondering what everyone's opinions are on micro stacks. I know you're paying for the novelty but they're supposed to be good quality aren't they?

Twelve million pounds....? What the hell?

Also, as for quality on those. Well, it's a Marshall solid state amp... I wouldn't play through it if it was free.

Re: What a laugh!

yea it sounds like great value for money, £12 million! but thanks for input. What's so bad about the solid states? just wondering because all the reviews seem to say they're good.

I've got one of the original Lead 12's from the '80s and it basically makes one sound, but it's not HORRIBLE. It has a much more interesting distortion sound than my 20 watt Crate practice amp. It sounds pretty good, imo, for what it does. Hell, it was good enough for Billy Gibbons to take with him on his tour bus.

That being said, 12-15 watts of solid state is way too quiet for a band situation, even just practicing. I used it to record some really crappy demos on cassette tape in my mom's garage a number of years ago... Had to have the thing completely cranked up and facing the drummer for him to be able to hear it at all.

Re: What a laugh!

yea, i'm not concerned about band situations right now, this is just for bedroom antics, so i wont be in need of my ears bleeding. I just think it looks amazing and for a small price (in most situations! ) and sounds good from what i've read and heard.

Re: What a laugh!

What's so bad about solid states? I'm just a snob and really only care for tubes. I do own a solid state amp, but it only gets turned on 4 or 5 times a month. Marhsall, IMO, makes some of the worst solid state amps on the planet. They sound bad while clean and they sound like shit when the distortion is on.

Re: What a laugh!

I bought an Orange Crush 3, thier mini-amp. Its great for practicing and it can get loud. Its only real drawbacks are the lack of options, you only have a tone knob, volume, and an overdrive. Its got a tuner as well, which is nice. Overall, its good quality and well-constructed, not made of plastic, but of wood and metal. A great buy in my opinion purely for traveling and practicing purposes.

Re: What a laugh!

I have one, and for the house it's great. 12 million pounds, well maybe not that much.

I have enjoyed mine, I got it for just under $300 US.

Re: What a laugh!

The cool look of the Marshall Mini Stack is about all that's positive about it!

Please take a look at this thread, I'm too tired to go through the same discussion again that we had about two weeks ago!

Maxed Out Tone??????

The discussion about the mini stack starts at post #15!

Re: What a laugh!

I have a Marshall Micro Stack. The sound isn't all that great, and it's unplayable at the moment because of noisy, crappy pots.

I just got a Peavey Vypyr 15 watt for $99 and it's pretty amazing. Highly recommend them over the comparable Line 6s.
