Volume knob cuts out when on full volume

So a long long time ago, i got an emg 81 installed in the bridge, and since then whenever you turn the volume knob to max, it will cut out, but if you back it up a notch or two its fine. What do you guys think would cause this?

Re: Volume knob cuts out when on full volume

Sounds like a bad pot..it could have been over heated when soldering in the new pickup....a new pot should fix the problem......

Yup, I change pups a ton and once in a while this happens. Just replace the pot and you should be good to go.
