It's here if you want it. I am not actively pursuing a sale of it. If anyone else sees this and asks me to sell it, though, it's gone!

Re: SG in Les Paul Case?

they have a wider body at the end dont they? that would probably be why they dont fit.

Re: SG in Les Paul Case?

I carry my lp in a strat case, thankfully its a soft case so it fits fine.... strange, I've never actually owned any fender but managed to squeeze my jackson, lp and all others in to a strat case (one at a time of course). Probably should get the real thing at some point...

My G-400 fits nicely into my TKL Les Paul HSC. They will fit, you just have to angle them in body-first.

Okay, Standard Man....go ahead and gamble that it will fit, and buy a Les Paul case. These Einsteins are SURELY not wrong! I already told you about the swingin' deal on a SG case that I have, just sitting here empty.

Good luck!

Re: SG in Les Paul Case?

I've tried it and failed. The "hips" on an SG are wider. Angle the body and it produces unlevel distribution of pressure, one wrong move and you could break the headstock.

That said, any guitar SG, LP, Strat, Tele, etc. will fit in one of those long, rectangular TKL cases with no foam to support the body. That doesn't make I a good idea.

How much gigging to you do anyway?

I'm not saying that it would be the ideal solution as it is true that nearly every Les Paul case will not fit the SG (mainly due to the wider hips, and the majority of the cases with wide enough space are too deep for the SG to fit correctly which would indeed create an uneven distribution of pressure on the neck and headstock.) However, all I'm sayin' is that if he were to get the TKL HSC, it would fit as the neck support can be adjusted down to accustom the SG and the case is wide enough to fit it's hips. Don't judge the case unless you've used it.

I didn't judge a case, I just didn't want the the OP to think if he wedges an SG into just any LP case somehow, it's going to be okay.

I don't feel like consoling him on his broken headstock thread.

I understand perfectly. Please forgive my abrasive-sounding post. Years of posting on the bass forums can do that to a guy. Lol (No those guys are a great bunch over there.) I just mean to say that it is possible to fit an SG into an LP case, as apposed to it not being possible at all.
Cheers.

There are exceptions to every rule. As you say, it's not an ideal solution. You can stare directly into the sun for an extended period of time, doesn't mean it's ideal.

No worries.

I'm not saying that you're not lookin' out for the well being of his guitar, but... You are indeed being a very shrude salesman, maybe you should look into that.

S-H-R-E-W-D

I'm not trying to sell it to him; I just let him know it's available. If he wants it, he knows where it's at. It's not costing me anything leaning against the wall behind my chest-of-drawers.

If I understand this right your parents will let you get an SG but not a case to protect it with. Its like buying a new car without insurance. Its only $50 plus shipping

Re: SG in Les Paul Case?

I've actually been wondering about my Les Paul case (sorry to derail this thread a bit :P). It came with my LP (second hand), but it's a bit of a struggle to get it closed, as the LP sits a bit high, and I have to force the lid down to get the latches on. Also, it doesn't match the contours of the body perfectly.

It's a bit hard to see there, but yeah. Can anyone shed some light?

EDIT: It's a CnB case, by the way

Admittedly I'm no expert but I sure don't like the sound of that.

Re: SG in Les Paul Case?

Alright let's just clear this up really quick. Putting your SG in a Les Paul case is like putting your dead hooker in the front seat of your car. Will she fit? Yeah probably but chances are it will cause more problems than it will solve. We all know she will fit better in the trunk where she belongs. Just like your SG, it may fit in the Les Paul case but it is going to be a false sense of security and may actually lead to damage due to improper support of the guitar. Get an SG case and be done with it.
