Question Do I need this upgrade?

HI,
Should I upgrade the pots in my Epi LP Std. ? If yes, then is this set a good fit? Complete Les Paul Upgrade Electrical Component Kit

Any other recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Re: Do I need this upgrade?

I didn't bother to swap out the pots on my Epi. All I did was add new Spraque Orange Drop caps and Volume bleeds. I got a better sound than when it came stock.

You might wanna try this first

Re: Do I need this upgrade?

I got mine from AXETEC in the UK, very fast shipping and reasonable prices

Guitar Parts UK - Axetec Guitar Pickups, Spares, Parts and Accessories UK

You might even buy a few spares to keep on hand or for another guitar.

Re: Do I need this upgrade?

The pots in the current Epi's are Alpha
I know mine are
They aren't a bad make.
Just do the caps and you should be fine.

Re: Do I need this upgrade?

I have Alpha pots in my Elitist, and they seem subtly OK. But just OK. I have the full RS kit in my other LP, and the difference is ASTOUNDING!! WAY more interaction, WAY more usable. Thats everything from wiring, Jensen PIO cap, RS/CTS superpots. A different league. I'd personally do it if I were you. Its hard to get any better, and in the grand scheme of things, the extra $70 is well worth it. You'll always wonder if you don't...........mehehehehe!!!!!

Re: Do I need this upgrade?

your electronics will choke out even the best pickups, so the replacing of even the caps will make a huge difference with stock pickups.

People replace pickups without making any other changes and are disappointed because the new ones sound just like the old ones.
