MIJ Epiphone "Lacquer Series" Les Paul Junior

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant, Japan
2006
Production Number: 02473

Dudes, this little guy here rocks.
*Nitro-cellulose lacquer, real deal nice and thin. GREAT finish!!!
*6.7lbs SOLID, 2 piece mahogany body, 1 piece quarter-sawn mahogany neck
*Lollar P-90 pick-up upgrade from original Epi P90
*RS Wiring Kit; Jensen Paper in oil cap, CTS pots, vintage style braided wiring.
ROCKS!!! Oh man, NEVER have I imagined a guitar this LOUD! Seriously! Rips, tares, roars, etc.!!!!! BEST cleaning up ability with the volume knob I've ever experienced. Just killer, and the tone knob settings are all stellar.
*Long neck tennon joint
*Vintage style button tuners
*Bone nut
*Gibson original "open-book" design headstock
*Vintage Sunburst solid color finish on front, deep brown transparent on back.
It is in like new condition.

This nitro finish is the real deal, and you can see and feel the texture of the wood-grain in different angles of light. SUPER thin and perfect nitro. Wonderful neck feel, almost as perfect a match to me as my Goldtop Elitist made at the same factory. Again, a rockin' guitar! This guitar is not made for Jazz or Classical, could do metal fine if you wanted. This guitar is a hard rocker, no doubt. I LOVE this guitar, I feel like it is a dream to play, effortless. I would love to own a Custom Shop Gibson Jr. like anyone else, but not at 5 times the price! No way! Mine has a better P90, and the full RS wiring kit. Even has the nitro finish and headstock shape, and its flawlessly made!!! Not as much mojo as a Custom Shop, but I like it better than any other Gibson or Epiphone Jr. that I've tried short of Gibson Custom Shop.
This guitar is like a "secret weapon" of mine. Its not my #1, my Goldtop is. BUT its the guitar that while I'm playing my #1, I can't wait to also get to my #1b MIJ Epi LP Junior.

BUY ONE OF THESE if you can!!!!!!!! DO IT!! There are not too many of these available in the entire planet!!!! 1 or 2 at MOST at any given time!!
I don't know how soon, but hopefully sooner than later I'll be able to post up REAL digital pics of both my new MIJ Epis, and post up some sound/video clips of both these two guitars thru my little Gibson GA-5 Les Paul Junior tube combo. And yes, the Jr.'s do sound a little better together. The Goldtop sounds sweet thru that amp from 1-4, and then deafeningly sweet from 7-10 on that amp.
Oh, shitty pics for all!!!

Damn I need a camera..........

Thanks man!
I was looking at these on Ebay about a year ago, there were two or three of these 06's here and there each month. I wanted this exact finish! So once I put my Gibby on sale, I started to look for a less expensive nice guitar as a backup or variety type to my Elitist. I was originally going to buy one of those Squier Classic Vibes 50's Strats which are great and only $300, but this thing popped up on another forums For Sale section, and I had to have it!!!! The thing really is like new! This guitar is a rock machine, but it is still way more versatile than people give JR's credit for. With this electronics and pickup upgrade this guitar covers a bunch of ground. LOVE the simplicity!!

I like it; it's nice that it has the Gibson shaped headstock. Bonus.

I hope you enjoy both. Congrats.

Re: MIJ Epiphone "Lacquer Series" Les Paul Junior

I took some photos of the Jr and researched it some more. This model was called LPJ-70, it doesn't have a nitrocellulose finish but some other lacquer finish (acrylic maybe and VERY thin). It dings pretty easily which can be a good thing if you're into that. The hardware is nickle. It's a light weight guitar and fun like hell to play, the stock P90 is pretty nasty This is a keeper for sure.

Re: MIJ Epiphone "Lacquer Series" Les Paul Junior

Time for a small update if anyone is interested. I've had teh Epi for a couple of months now and it's been my main guitar ever since I got it. I tried the new Gibson Les Paul Junior (you know with the satin finish) the other day but I didn't really care for the neck on that one - too thin compared to the Epi.

Re: MIJ Epiphone "Lacquer Series" Les Paul Junior

I have been kicking myself since I let go of a deal on an Epi Lacquer Jr.

That was tough.

And it was such a nice price too.

It was local which was good too. But I was a couple of hours late. Oh well...

Anyway, I grabbed this before that. . It's all good.

I've never tried a MIK or MIC Epi Junior so I can't compare them. But the MIJ is close to the originals when it comes to the neck (really fat!) neck joint and of course the bridge. I've found some problems with the bridge though. It intonates ok but the mounting studs lean forward a bit (they sit quite loose in the bushings) and the ball ends on some strings stick out (it doesn't look right). These problems are easily fixed but I don't know, maybe I'll get a Gotoh aluminium tailpiece which also has small grooves where the strings wrap. The Gotoh bridge mounts with 3 1/4 spacing like the bridge on the Epi.

i just got a les paul special, japanese made at the fuji gen gakki plant and it is indeed "light years" ahead of any mic/mik epi. it is basically a japanese made gibson. a vos epiphone if you will. these have the period correct stairstep long tenon neck joint, a 2 piece body, 1piece, baseball bat neck, nickel hardware and a killer acrylic lacquer finish, alpha pots, and i put some vitamin q .033 pio caps in it i got mine for $710 shipped from katana guitars, and it is just awesome . it is my new number one above my 1990 tv yellow les paul standard. Congrats Ryan and welcome to the forum. I got one of these here in Japan and love it as well. I found the stock pickups to be just fine as well as the wiring (unlike the soul-less pickups they put in the regular Les Paul LQ guitars).

Light Junior? cool! I think if I could find a light Junior, that would end my search for guitars
