Epi LP Studio, modified with Epi VJ, modified

I bught an epiphone sheraton many years ago. And I've enjoyed every minute of it. So, one day on a whim, I took a shot at the Epiphone Les Paul Studio.
they had them in sunburst at the time.
And guess what? I liked it, too. So...
I added some new pickups.

but I wasn't quite happy enough, so..
I added locking tuners, bigsby and roller bridge, and new pots and caps, and straplocks.

Now I'm happy.
But Blondy is jealous and they fight over the VJ all the time.
So I gave her new pickups, new bridge and tail, new knobs, pots caps and switch. Imperial tuners and custom pickguard and gold straplocks.

Now, they get along too well.
It seems they want a little brother!

Re: Epi LP Studio, modified with Epi VJ, modified

Thanks everyone.

The amp.. whoo boy. lots!
I started by turning the head upside down ala Marshall.
Removed some of the front panel and inserted a screen.
Then I bought some clips and put the logo through the screen.

On the front I added a standby switch.
Tone, Gain and Volume.
EFX loop, and of course left the input jack.

On the back I have a rear mounted fuse holder.
With a Negative Feedback resistor on a three way switch.
And a Conjunctive Filter, also on a three way switch.

Inside, it's all new.
I replaced the board and every part on it.
I also added a Weber Output Transformer.
JJ tubes in both slots.

It's still only five watts, and frankly what it does best is bite the sky.
It does clean very nicely, but only at low volume.
Anywhere past 9:00 on the dial is .. rock n roll!

I've got a combo and two heads I'm working on.

I'm going to voice one of them a bit differently and use them together.
I dunno what I'll do with the other two. Ramp 'em up and ebay 'em, I guess.

I love that little VJ though.
The neighbors, however.. not so much.

Nice work on that VJ. I was wondering about it as well... (I thought it may have been the new Senior model).
