Okay I was using a wrong email address (support @ gibson . com don't know where I found that) and got no answer from it (not even a delivery failure).
However in another thread here someone told me to use service . europe @ gibson . com (I think service @ gibson . com is the one to use for non European). Anyway I got a reply less than one hour latter telling me to wait until relevant service inspect my photo and six hours after my email I got the confirmation of fake (it was more to have an official statement 'cause I had no doubt about it). The guy, Boris Franz, was very kind and we exchanged some more emails, THAT's a customer service, thanks

Got to say that in all my dealings with the European customer service department (a guy called Marcel, primarily) they've proven themselves excellent representatives of their company.

As an example, when I emailed them (can't remember what specifically) about my daughter's Gibson, they sent her a couple of large posters and two packets of plectrums. OK, not huge monetary value but it certainly gave a 14-yo a good initial impression of the company.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

I don't know if I should post this here or in a thread by itself. I'll take it elsewhere if need be. So about that fake (and broken) Epi LP appetite got off Amazon Marketplace. Amazon has told to send it back to the seller for a refund, but that seems kinda daft to me. The guy could repair it and sell it to someone else. And besides, it feels as if I'm condoning the whole thing. Should I just send it back or try to make something out of it? Possibly Contact Gibson?

Hello All,

Would a Korean Les Paul still have the stickers on the pups? When production stop for the MIK's?

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could help me out here.

http://epiphonegoldtop.shutterfly.com/pictures

Someone wanted to sell me this guitar, I was wondering if it was legit.

It obviously has had some work done, the guy said he switched out the tuning knobs with Gibson ones, and had the hole drilled into it to let humbuckers be able to be used in single coil mode.

Thanks!

Carvin pickups, not sure which ones though. I would have preferred a push/pull too, I think the hole and the switch look kinda ugly. Asking $400. I'm just a little concerned that it's a true goldtop, since it doesn't have the custom shop stamped into the back of the headstock

Do any other experts have any opinion about this guitar? Sorry for posting so quickly after I just did, but I just want to get this deal done with ASAP, and want to make sure it's legit. Thanks again!

Looks fine to me. Well, at least originally it was an original!

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

Hello guys, I want to buy a second hand Epihphone Les Paul from someone, via internet and to be honest I'm not very sure if it's an original elctric guitar or a fake. I hope that you might help me out with this problem, based on photos I've atached with this guitar.

Dude, the question is fake or real, not what do you think of this guitar.

Hey Guys - has anyone checked out and/or reported the Ebay Uk Seller djdalkwin? Looks like he's been getting away with a lot...

He has guitars 'direct from Quinqdao' to the UK - complete with 'inspected in the USA' stickers

Edit: Emailed the seller - no repsonse. But he's listed more guitars since then...

Report him here:
<Service.Europe@gibson.com>

I have.

There is no way this seller is in 'west midland'.

Sorry for having a sense of humour. I'm not qualified to state whether this is a fake or not. However, the angle of the Epiphone on the headstock looks wrong, as does the diamond. The serial number looks to high.

Do not trust such sellers. No one person (or persons) get their guitars direct from (I believe you meant) Qingdao (China). Those are highly likely to be fake; "Inspected in the USA" stickers can be made easily. These days all you really need is a Mac and a printer.

The funny thing is, there should be no 'Inspected in USA' sticker. These guitars are being sold in the UK! The seller claims they come direct from China (which we all know = fakes), so when did they get the USA check up?

Unless I'm having a complete brain freeze, there are too many things on that guitar that indicate its fake than I'd be happy with.

Do you think the counterfeiters have over compensated on the position of the pickguard screw on this guitar?
