Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

Hey guys, sorry to say that but the fakers have finally arrived at the german bay. Take a look at this.

Zakk Wylde Bullzeye

And just to fulfill every cliche, this is the sellers other item.

Thats actually quite amusing. Probably doing it on purpose as a dig at us.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

I wrote an email to the seller yesterday, telling him that he's selling a cheap chinese counterfeit and that this would be considered as fraud and that it would be prosecuted under the law. If he was not aware of what he's doing he should takt my mail as a hint. If he's not going to pull the auction off I would be forced to take legal measures.
Well, I just logged into ebay and was pleased to see that he pulled it off. Another scam is prevented.

Well done Shifty - some more heartache prevented

This really is a good result. A nice proactive approach that actually prevented a counterfeit sale from going ahead.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

I see some negative feedback about counterfeit guitars has appeared on the account of the seller that Brachy8, Float and Reh bought guitars from. Well done whoever that was!

Just one more post from me and I think I'll move from "junior member" to "member" status. WooHoo!!

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

Any one have any thoughts on this? NEW epiphone les paul Standard BLUE plus-top

Noticed it on a trawl of Fleabay.
Interesting points are:
- Knobs seem off
- No full body shots
- Knobs in video appear to be different
- Bidders are hidden
- Last negative feedback mentions a ripoff, but doesn't say what.

Yeah - glad someone agrees I'm not inclined to go seller bashing (I'll leave that to the pros), but when something is made that badly, I figure if it stops one person bidding that might come past here first, then it's worth it.
Unfortunately it's sold.....

I sure did Reh, and received a £20:00 voucher for all the hassle. I've had a very good day to-day, I finally got, what I believe to be a genuine Korean LP Standard Limited Edition and Grandchild Nr. 5 arrived! It's a boy this time, so the line continues.
FYI Gibson support China requested photo's of the fake Epi, which I sent with as much data as I could give them, so we'll see what comes out of that.
Cheers

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

Reh - Well done for leaving the negative feedback, hopefully some of his previous sellers may notice and seek further info.

Brachy8 - Double Congratulations on the new Grandson and the Korean Les Paul (presumably that's it in your new Avatar - looks nice! cool colour).

Same here, 2 and 3 look pretty fake. 1 looks fine, except for the missing serial#. You sure you didn't mix anything up, Sin?
Wouldn't bid on any of the three, though!

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread II

I could be wrong about the first, but I would rather be calling out more fakes than calling out less, for an obvious reason. Two pics bug me, the body shot, because the knobs seem a little off kilter, and there don't see to be the circles sticking out of the bridge studs, but I could be wrong, also it's not the best picture.

I could see the third being fake, espicially with a tuner that seems out of line. Maybe I am just getting crazy.

Yeah, the thumbscrews at the bridge studs seem to be missing on the first one.
But the third definately has all the giveaways. Knobs, pickguard screw, knob alignment. And the I in the serial says it's korean. While the TRC indicates it's chinese. This is either a fake or a badly modded MIK.
Well as I said, I wouldn't bid on either of 'em.

Well, maybe your just doing this for too long, Sin!

There are photos of two different guitars. The first two pics are of a genuine Bullseye, 3rd and 4th are definately fake. Theres a Limited Edition decal on the back of the headstock in the 2nd pic and no decal in the 4th pic. Also the color is way too white in pics 3 and 4. That combined with this strange statement makes me say fake.
