Hey Clasky, welcome to MLP.

If you'd like to post some pics we'll be able to let you know. If you're concerned it might be fake, post in the Fake Epiphone Thread. If you know it's genuine but just want model info, start a new thread.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

One of the most frequently asked questions is what/whether people should change, including other things, pots and caps.

Doesn't that make the FAQ thread the natural place for questions like that to be?

In general, the thread is locked to avoid the situation we often find here which is people thinking that this thread is the best place to post questions.

It's an honest mistake but when people do post in here they run the risk of not getting an answer to their question because most people don't read this thread on a regular basis. Starting a new thread will get the best and most responses that could help answer the question being asked.

The problem is that this thread has grown so big because of this that it is almost useless as a true FAQ thread at this point in time. Ideally, the thread should be cleaned of all irrelevant posts and then locked so it can serve as a reference thread which is what it's supposed to be. But that would take a good deal of moderator time and I guess it would be a lot to ask at this point.
I know. My tongue was firmly in my cheek during my last post.

Human nature mate. People ain't gonna read through (in this instance) twelve pages of posts.

Hi

I've got a Reverend Jetstream. Due to it being slightly more expensive than an Epi LP Custom I wonder whether it would make sense to upgrade the wiring, potentiometers etc., too.

What do you think???

I have an Elite made in 1996 in Korea. How does it compare to Japan-made model? Any idea how many were made? I heard maybe 102 but not sure.

Hi guys,

This thread is not meant for people to ask questions, it is a collection of answers to frequently asked questions. If you have a specific question regarding your guitar or Epis in general and cannot find the answer in this thread, or like most of us - really can't be bothered to look through this thread or search the board LOL - please just start a new thread for it. Asking a question in this thread is the best way to make certain that it won't be answered.

Thanks!

The Guitar Dater web site does NOT help you determine if a guitar is real or fake. It ONLY decodes the serial number and it does not decode any sn newer than 2008.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

lot of material to read here but one thing i was noticing is that the author here said the studio les pauls had dot inlays not trapezoidal or rectangular mother of pearl Is that true only for the epiphone lps as i have owned a gibson studio lp in the past and it had trapezoidal mop inlays on it. dang i miss that guitar i like a young idiot pawned it for 200 bucks years ago

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

Epi Studio Deluxe models also have trap inlays and this happens to be the Epi section of the board so we generally discuss that brand of guitar, not Gibsons.

It looks like yours was made the day after Grapeflavor's? His answer applies to you too.

Hi

and Welcome here

Your guitar was not made in USA
it is a 'JDM' (Japan domestic market)

Here is more information about it

Japanese Les Pauls - The Unofficial Epiphone Wiki

and the guys in the 'other Les Paul' section probably can tell you more about where and when it was made....

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

Hi, i seen this is the fact section for epips.

I have a epiphone lp sepcial II and the neck joint was badly damaged so i cut a piece of Mahogany out and refilled neck joint.

My question is??? Is there a 3.0 degree angle i need to route like most gibs stuff (beside real les pauls which i believe are 4.4)? Or is the bolt on necks same as a fenders dimensions. If they are not the same as fenders does anyone know the depth and wide i will need to route down too?

Please if anyone could help, i'd be greatful. Thanks

I don't think this is so much an Epi question as one for a luthier. Try posting in Luthier's Corner - My Les Paul Forums.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

Howdy-I'm very new to this forum--or any forum--and would appreciate help in navigating this site. I'm an Elitist owner, with many questions about this instrument, and probably need to start my own thread? How does one do that? Please forgive my abysmal ignorance.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul FAQ

Hi, and welcome to MLP!

Yes, the best thing would be to start your own thread. It's very easy, all you have to do is click on NEW THREAD at the top left of the Forum, just above the list of threads. From there, give your thread a title and post the starting message. We love our Epis here, especially Elitists. And don't forget to include some pictures of your guitar.

The Guitar Dater web site does NOT help you determine if a guitar is real or fake. It ONLY decodes the serial number and it does not decode any sn newer than 2008.
