HNGD - Les Paul LQ

2005 well loved/played LQ

I gutted this one and put all new electronics in, good pots, vintage braid wiring and Dimarzio 36 Aniv PAF's.

I like the neck, its thicker than my slim taper Tributes but its not baseball bat thick. This is a Gibson with an Epi logo at the top.

That is really one very beautiful LP. I couldn't understand why ll IrOnCiTy ll was getting so little attention on this when he listed it. These JDM MIJ's just don't come available very often in the U.S. That was a great score for you and with the upgrades, I'll bet a forever keeper too. Welcome to the MIJ club and HNGD.

Yes its a keeper for sure!

I put about 6 hours of work into it, leveled and dressed the frets. Fixed a chip on the back of the neck and all of the electronics work. And honestly right at this moment like it better than that new Elitist GT I got.

Re: HNGD - Les Paul LQ

For those of you that own LQ's. Are we sure that these are finished in Lacquer? The reason I ask is when I was fixing the chip on the neck I did various test's to determine what I could use to fix it. I took acetone as well as lacquer thinner on a q-tip and rub it on various places and it did not affect the finish. Normally on like a Nitro finish it will react to this test. I also think other lacquer's would have reacted as well.

Re: HNGD - Les Paul LQ

Congratulations! That is one of the very rare bursts I actually like! The graduation is subtle and perimeter very symmetrical. Seems about 19 out of 20 have bad looking burst graduations.

I think I like the plain top more than flame or quilted; at least with lite color like yours.

Re: HNGD - Les Paul LQ

Hello Everyone:

I agree it is a sweet guitar, I love the MIJ stuff, I had a couple, but I had to let them go, maybe someday I'll get another one.

they're keepers for a reason, I remember seeing some of them over there that had USA pickups in them, not the elitist stuff, but some of the regular ones Ibashi Music was selling for a while.

I forgot what's the name they gave them?.

take care
George
