Epiphone LP fret size

Hey guys I've been trying to find out what fret or fret size is on my epi LP stsndard. I'm building a strat and love the 12 inch radius with the frets on my LP. Anyone have any info , brand, size?

This should help. If not, refer to the Epiphone website.

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

Everywhere I look it says medium jumbo, which means absolutely nothing I'm looking for exact measurements. Every single company has a medium jumbo and their all diffent. Fender medium jumbo is much narrower and higher them the gibson

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

Do you have any calipers? Do you know anyone with calipers you could borrow?

Perhaps you could measure the frets then refer to STEWMAC.COM : StewMac Medium Fretwire to get the correct matching fret wire. It indeed you are looking to order replacement fret wire for your other guitars.

I don't have any calipers. I really should get some.

No calipers. Thinking of going to a local GC and asking if they can measure them. I can't believe how hard it is finding out the fret size. I've sent emails, looked on every site. It can't be this hard

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

Have you emailed Epiphone Customer Service? Just tell them you plan on doing a re-fret of your Epi and ask them exactly what size fret wire you will need.

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

My assumption was 106x36 but didn't want to assume when building a custom guitar. I was debating between dunlop 6140 and 6130. Basically 106x36 or 105x40

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

My Epiphone Custom in wine red/gold hardware (manufactured in 2008-2009 I believe) has frets that measure 1.05 mm /0 .041 inches high (averaged) from finger board to fret crown and are 2.72 mm / 0.107 inches wide.

Keep in mind, the average height is after level/re-crown to achieve a perfect playing instrument. Frets were nearly 10 percent higher new out of the box pre-level state.

Measurements acquired using a Fowler digital caliper.

Re: Epiphone LP fret size

I measured the frets on my 2005 Epi LP Standard with a digital caliper:

Average reading:
Width: 2,7 mm
Height: 1,0 mm

It's a good fret size. Very playable imo. I have the same frets on my Strat. The current Gibson fret wire is taller and narrower. pros and cons.
