Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro honey burst

On Sweetwater they display two quite different colours for the honey burst. Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO (Honey Burst) | Sweetwater.com

Any one know which one is the correct and what the other colour is? They don't sell them anywhere near me so I can't go look for my self.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro honey burst

Neither really hit Honeyburst right on in my eyes, though the left is definitely closer. It's like 95-97% HB. It looks more akin to an Iced Tea burst to me.
The right one of probably Lemonburst, almost blonde.

Keep in mind, product photos never get the colour of bursts right. It all depends on the quality and temperature of lighting, angle, etc.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro honey burst

They're made at different factories so that may account for the difference in colour. I'd say the one on the left, and the two other Qingdao made guitars they have in stock, are closer to the Honeyburst colour than the other one which is made at either Daewon or Unsung.

Sweetwater pics are usually pretty close to how it looks when you get it. They are the best vendor when it comes to presentation on their web site. From what those who have purchased there have posted, what you see on the site is as close as possible to what you will see when you receive the guitar.

The Guitar Dater web site does NOT help you determine if a guitar is real or fake. It ONLY decodes the serial number according to a set formula. They have no database of guitars.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro honey burst

Both are not what they really are. but left is the most realistic one.
recently seen a honyburst, it's a bit lighter in normal light. (but can have this darker look in some sorts of light) if you like the left one, you won't be disappointed!
and in stead of looking online, just go to a large shop where the sell most of the colors, and ask if you can see them! to bad that epiphone doesn't show the colors as they are on their website...

really, go to a shop, if color is important to you! even when it is a bit to far for you its worth to do (that's what i had to do to, couldn't decide between honeyburst, iced tea and desert burst, i went for the last one the moment i saw it in real life!!)

as i can remember, this one is more like it!

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro honey burst

There are two completely different honey burst colors. The one on the left is what the older models tended to look like, kind of similar to a vintage sunburst. Lately they have been producing honeybursts to look more like the one on the right. Its nice and kind of looks like what a faded vintage burst would look like now. I just don't like that the back of these are brown. The one on the left has a reddish brown back which is more accurate to a vintage burst.

The one on the left looks just like mine. It's color is somewhere between honey and iced tea. The one on the right looks more like a trans amber burst.

Either way you go, they're fantastic guitars. I actually prefer the Standard Plus-Top Pro over my 1960 Standard V3. Although that may may change once I get a new nut for it.

It's like Rob said in post #3, what you get for Honeyburst depends on the factory. Here an example of what was coming out of factory 12 (Daewon or Unsung China) in 2010. The last year for the Standard Plain Top BTW.

The same guitar, different lighting and white plastic.

Ok thanks for the answers. It is pretty impresive that you know which factory made them.

The S/N always includes the factory code. Easily referenced here:

Out of all the burst finishes, honeyburst has to be the one with the widest variance. Definitely the sort of finish that I wouldn't be willing to buy without seeing it first.
