pick gaurd hole

I love the look of my plus top w/o the pickguard. Is there anything (with in reason) that can be done about the little hole from the screw right below the 22nd fret?? If the answer is no, I'd rather just leave it on. That little hole is not something you can just live with. Once you know its there you can't stop looking at it. Is there a fix?

Re: pick gaurd hole

Put the screw back in.

Works ever time!

Just don't over tighten it (it'll push up around the edges) - it won't hurt anything if it sticks out a little bit.

Re: pick gaurd hole

You could fill it in with some stainable wood filler stain it to match the colour! I will be doing this someday soon I have been putting it off.

There are coloured wood putty out there also.

Re: pick gaurd hole

Not a fan of the ol' screw stickin' out, huh? It never bothered me much. I had my PG's off for about a year, and then my tastes changed a little, and I put them all back on. Sure am glad I didn't fill those holes in!

Its all good man! I was just saying that I PERSONALLY am wishy-washy enough that had I filled the holes in, I'd have had to drill them all out a year later! There have been a couple of guys who filled their holes and touched them up with great results - I don't know if anything will turn up in the search function - but it has been done buy members here in the past very successfully.

NICE! Thats avbout 1/2 what they go for new, right? I haven't scored any odds and ends lately... I got that '65 Fender Jag for a good deal (my FIRST Fender) - but have been losing out here and there on lowball bids for amps and such. Its a never ending quest. I did get a set of Luxe Bee's here in the Classifieds for $20something - that was a good deal. And, I do have a set of WB's which will be here very soon, though - that should keep me occupied!

Re: pick gaurd hole

What? "That little hole is not something you can just live with?" - I don't get it and I already sad it a hundret times before and I'll never get it!
It's just a stupid little hole (you can't even call it hole at all ...) that your audience will never make sure! But I'm sure that some people might think "Why is there a screw in the top, holding nothing?" you know? Also you widen the hole by putting the screw back in because you give it a few more turns until the head is down on the top ...

I don't care about it! Remove the pickquard including the screws and never think about the holes again ... you'll see you'll learn to ignore them!

Re: pick gaurd hole

I just left the screw in the hole when I took that bitchy pickguard off the Slash Goldtop.
The hole in the side - well - I just stuck a wooden stick in it and broke it off flush with the body... works fine for me and I don't intend to ever put that pickguard back on again...

Re: pick gaurd hole

Could be worse...

My Classic Quilt Top came without the pickguard attached, so no holes were ever drilled at the factory. It looks GREAT don't get me wrong... but I know I will never be able to put a pickguard on that guitar because I just cant bring myself to drill into such a nice looking guitar.

somethings wrong with your guitars. they must be fake they are all backwards jk. i constantly change it from on to off and back again and again. its best to not fill the holes. some folks think putting the screws back in is a good idea cuz you may lose them. but if you have ever lost them and had to go through buying new ones they will have a little button bag and stay in your case. trust me. other than that i think mines on right now. but im sure ill take it off by the end of the day. im so indecisive.

I wouldn't worry about anything other than superficial scratches on your Poly finish with a plastic pick - Poly is tough stuff!

Hard for most MEN to ignore a hole IMO and we tend spend a lot of time filling them or tring to.

Welome to the forum 6 string!
Well, you could get yourself one of these screwless transparent pickquards! That bad metal thing (don't know hao to call it) looks ... unnatural!
