classic les paul tone

I have a 2003 (?) Epi LP 100
the LP 100 has a basswood body and has stock 700T pickups

Im going for that classic, driving LP sound

should i just invest in a new LP or shove in some new pickups?

i play through a Fender FM212R btw

Re: classic les paul tone

Well it seems like a pretty nice overall guitar.
However Les Pauls get a lot of the tone/sustain from it's thick mahogany body and set neck.

I say save a little bit and go for a new Epiphone Les Paul, anything Studio/Standard and up should do better for the Les Paul tone.

You could also look into the Agiles I suppose, but I have no experiance with one...

Later on if you want a good classic rock sound a small tube map might be good use with the LP.

Wow they're sweet Don. I love that flamer. I'd buy one of those or a Fuji-Gen in a heartbeat. I like the Gibson-like headstocks.

The Epi Japan is a Fuji Gen Guitar Man, I love em, Vibe VIbe , Vintage type mojo at a workin mans budget, or in my case, an unemployed blues mans

What kind of prices are they getting for those, Don? Are they hard to find?
