Epiphone factory pictures

エピフォンチンタオ EQ 工場レポート

I found some interesting things in these pics. In one pic we can plainly see the body is made of three pieces, not five or more. We cannot tell what quality the wood is but all in all not bad for our money.

In another pic we can see the thickness of the tops. Looks to be a very thin veneer compared to the Gibson, which looks in their factory tour to be at least three quarters of an inch But still a nice piece of veneer.

In another pic I see the neck is not one piece like the Gibson where the headstock is. Im not counting the wing extensions . Im sure that this is so money can be saved by using a thinner piece of wood for the neck.

While I don't have any idea if any of these differences have any effect on tone, Im certain they do on price. It is nice to see some real differences in the two guitars. Each one is what it is.

I'm sure there's more than these, It would be nice to see a video tour of Epiphone factory. It would hopefully let us appreciate the differences and similarities between the two.

Some enthusiasts of automobiles like luxuries that to some are livable, others not. while each may have the same motor and trans and same exact speed in the quarter mile. there's more to an automobile Than just its performance. I for one look forward to the day I get a Gibby, and a few other guitars. I love my Epiphone very nice guitar for the money! Just cause a Camaro isn't a Vette doesnt mean It aint nice or fast !

If you want to see a nice tour of the Gibson factory, take a look at this series of videos. You might be surprised at some things.

Re: Epiphone factory pictures

Looks like a decent factory. Except for materials and faster production methods, I don't see any reason for inferior craftmanship compared to USA Gibsons. These Chinese people make great guitars!

Re: Epiphone factory pictures

It really is interesting comparing the pics of the Epiphone plant with the Gibson video I posted. While the Gibson factory is much more modern, there really does seem to be much more hands on work done at the Epi factory, right down to hand staining the guitars in the early finishing stages. Pretty impressive to see.

I liked these pics in particular...something that's probably not seen at Gibson these days...ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARDS!!!

It's like I keep saying mate.

What's the "golden era of LP's" late 50's early 60's right?

Want a guitar like that?

Buy an Epiphone.

Solid body guitar with no weight relief, rosewood boards,....drop in some good PAFs and a nice bridge and tuners, new pots and caps, and you're golden.

(or buy the JB goldtop, which needs no actual mods, and has a long tenon neck joint. Win! )

Plus you get a scarf joint and stronger neck.

Or you could spend $6,000 on a Gibson Historic Custom Shop if you want a solid Gibson and rosewood.

Re: Epiphone factory pictures

I find it real neat to see the people that actually built my guitar! And to see the care they took to do it. Someone said above that they are probably more hand built than any major brand, I agree!

I think I'm going to go hit that "thank" button...

One of the Most useful posts I've seen in a while. Maybe this'll keep some of them cork sniffin' yahoos from posting... yeah right! hahaha

All these pictures are amazing. It even looks like the LP's hanging in one of the pics are the AFD and heck, one might even be mine. Really cool and I don't see that these people are not very good at their jobs and the work they do.
