Epiphone SG problem

Yet again i am posting it here cos' you guys are so knowledgeable when it comes to epi's, Right here is my problem;

I have an Epiphone SG 310 & I like to use it without distortion, so i play Greenday songs (like wake me up when september ends) and i noticed it was way out of tune (It went like that overnight), so i spent 15 mins tuning it, It was perfectly in tune, so i unplugged the cable & tuner. Went back upstairs, plugged it into my amp & started playing and noticed it was way out of tune again!... I mean I know that they do need tuning a lot but this is ridicules. This guitar is only about 2 weeks old.

Anyone that can help?

Re: Epiphone SG problem

new strings? proper set-up?
I had the same problem with my G310... The stock tuners on those suck... On my two other Epi I've got the Grover Kidney beans and they stay in tune for like...forever.

Grtz,

Mesa.

Re: Epiphone SG problem

Yes the new tunners should do the tryck...But if you want it to stay in tune forever, try to change the stock nut for a decent one.

Re: Epiphone SG problem

No prob!
Also, +1 on the nut... Go for a Bone one, unbleached!! Your guitar will ring like a bell and the sustain will be better (maybe you should have this done on your G400 as well?)

Grtz,

Mesa.

Re: Epiphone SG problem

New tuners + new nut = super!

I personally use Grovers in my LP, not sure if your Epi would have to be drilled out to take the Grovers though. If you REAAALLY want to keep it in tune, look for some locking tuners.

Re: Epiphone SG problem

Well youve only had it for 2 weeks, and you have been playing it, my Ibanez would not stay in tune for a minute when i first got it, but i kept playing it and now i tune it once a month or so.

Re: Epiphone SG problem

Well, when I first got mine, then strings couldn't stay in tune. But I kept playing for a few days, and now it holds in tune great. But, if it's a recurring problem then get some new strings and some nice locking tuners.
