Epiphone Les Paul Case Question

Hey guys. Well I just recently purchased the Epiphone Les Paul Hardcase. It came with a small hole on one of the latches to lock it, it also came with the key.

When I put the key in and try to turn it, it wont turn left, and will only turn about 1/4 of the way right. Neither of these are enough to lock it.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is it just a stuffed up lock/key?

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Case Question

Put some pressure on the lid, the tongue on the lock may be too low to fit into the groove on the latch.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Case Question

My "untrained" guess would be that it is the wrong key for the lock.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Case Question

It turns out that on the inside of the lock, in the circular part where the key would normal spin around, there was a bit of metal sticking out. I got rid of the metal and it fixed. Lucky, cause I'm travelling with my Epi tommorow.

You know... if someone wants to steal the guitar, they'll just pick up the case.

Right. I wouldn't rely on that lock for any kind of theft deterrent!

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Case Question

I prefer the SKB 56 to the stock Epi case, but my guitars travel thousands of miles a month with me.

A holster for the small one, and the sling on the big one!

The Epi casea are pretty decent, particularly the arched to Epi case. The hardware kinda sucks on them - my brother has 2 archted top Epi cases, one of which had rivets come out of the handle brackets...

Usually I just travel with a little J-Frame Smith .38. Buuut, when escorting that fine lady, I need a little more firepower!
