Now with pics- Honeyburst Plus top

I will be picking up a B stock on Friday, it has a ding on the edge of the back of the body, so what. This is one of the absolute best playing Epiphones I have handled in a while.

I should stop buying Les Pauls this will be my 7th in about 4 months.

first pics- couldn't wait.

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

Why not hold off on all the GAS and just save up for an Elitist or Gibson?

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

what's wrong w/ an Epi???( do you really want to start this all over???)

There are people who buy Epis because they want to and not because they can't afford anything more expensive.

That's not what I'm trying to start I'm just curious since he has a bunch of regular Epi's why not try something else like the new Prophecy, a new old stock/used Elitist, etc. I've played my share of Epi's that are better than their Gibson counterparts so I have no qualms with sticking with Epi.

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

I played Gibsons in the 70's,80's and early 90's and was an absolute Gibson purist. There was a point when I was gigging full time playing US and Japanese dates and customer service at Gibson pissed me off really bad over a warranty issue so I refuse to play Gibson guitars and sold mine off.

Epiphone and Orville guitars have stood up to the abuse of gigging heavily so I continue to use them, I start with the base guitar and build them into what I want them to be.
Funny thing is dealing with Gibson concerning Epi guitars has been nothing but great service.

Thanks for the straight-forward, honest answer - THIS is what I was getting at Epi's are great base guitars if you know how to pick'em (and I'm sure you do).

BTW - congrats and post lots of pics when you pick it up!

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

I was such a Gibson freak I have the logo tattooed on my right bicep, it's been there for almost 15 years. I do appreciate their newer products just hold a grudge.

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

Very sweet Honeyburst. That's a great top. Congrats. I'm going to look at a plus top Epi next week from a guy who tried to become Slash in 2 weeks , got bored and went back to Guitar Hero! Not even broken in yet.

Re: Honeyburst Plus top

I found a twin for it here in St. Louis, the one in the pic came from Kansas City.

I pick up the other one Friday, got this one last Friday.

They are going to be candidates for the JP mods.
