Strings

Why on earth do they make the bloody things so long?

Is there such a thing as a guitar with a five-foot fretboard?

What a complete waste of money the unusable, unused part is.

Re: Strings

An high E string on an Ibanez with a FR is pretty long and also it depends on how many times you turn the string on the tuner.

Re: Strings

Recycle! Save all your clipped off strings for ten years, then sell them to a metal scrap yard. Maybe they would bring enough $$ to buy a new Git! I wonder if they would pay more per pound if you use EB Cobalts?

I have often wondered the same. Maybe there's one or to weird guitars that need that xtra foot?

Re: Strings

When I restring my ibanez sz520, the G string has only 4-5 cm left before clipping (because it has an offset tuner setup and string through body). Better to have a few cm left than a string that is too short.

The Guitar Dater web site does NOT help you determine if a guitar is real or fake. It ONLY decodes the serial number and it does not decode any sn newer than 2008.

My neighbors would definitely appreciate it if I played without strings! I'm just waiting for the day that I come home to find a "How to play guitar" book taped to my front door. Haha

Re: Strings

Srsly, I got a pack with a D that was one-half inch too short once. I'll take the extra every time.

They have names? I usually call them the thick one, the thin one and the four in the middle.

I have no idea who Dale Snr is, never mind the fact he had a son.
