New MHD pups in the Epiphone.....

Absolutely DESTROY!!! I love these things!! They sound great through my solid state and they sound amazing through my tube amp.

I tried a set a little over a month ago, (maybe you remember) but they weren't exactly what I was looking for. Rayne suggested I try the Straitjackets after we talked more about exactly what sound I wanted.

And man, he nailed it. This is exactly what I was looking for. Heavy and crunchy, yet clean and articulate. A total contradiction I know, but......well, that's me.

The new pups came today and they installed easily. Old fashioned braided 2 wire was a nice surprise as well.

Within 10 minutes of having the guitar back together I was on Youtube looking for a backing track to play with so I could demo them a bit.

I know the demo doesn't show any rhythm work, it's all lead stuff. But I went through all 3 pickup settings and you can definitely hear the difference in the video. In the future all my recordings will be with the MHD pickups, so....well I guess I'll get to share the rhythm sounds soon enough.

I hope you like the demo. I tried to put the pickups through their paces as much as I could, it's just a few minutes of jamming over Bm, but it was a lot of fun. There's definitely a few surprises in the improv.

Surprised me too!

Enjoy.

Re: New MHD pups in the Epiphone.....

Sounds great Mal! I definitely see what you mean about the pups. That was an outstanding demo and I'm sold on MHD's now. I see a set in the near future but first I gotta get me another Git to put them in. This is a great example of how your don't need a certain brand of guitar to sound good, you just need to know how to play. Very well done!

Nice Review Mal, they certainly do have a nice Tone, especially in the Mids and Highs, and your playing is awesome as usual, keep up the awesome Reviews and Playing

Thanks for the kind words, I think all credit should go to Rayne though.

His pups inspire!

You can't tell 'volume level' in the video, but,.......my ears are still ringing. Lmao.

My neighbors must f**king hate me!
