I recently opened up my control cavity for the first time in my '05 MIK Epi Les Paul and took a look at my electronics. The Neck Pup Volume pot said a500kΩ, Neck Pup Tone pot said a500kΩ, Bridge Pup Volume pot said b500kΩ, and Bridge Pup Tone pot said a500kΩ. Is it normal to have 500k pots stock in the guitar? If so, someone please help me figure out why the bridge volume pot seems to have be different from the others.

Re: Stock Pots?
yes it's normal, but just because they are marked 500k the values usually vary from pot to pot. What do you mean by different.

Re: Stock Pots?
I mean one of the pots is marked b not a. So would you suggest still trying to go for CTS 500k? Or will it not be too much of a difference?

Re: Stock Pots?
I would use the CTS 500K pots, or get an RS Guitarworks kits. - RS Guitarworks Online Store
I would replace the caps.

Re: Stock Pots?
another alternative is the Alpha brand pots, the large size are the same size as the CTS but the shaft size is for the import guitars (Epi, Greco, Tokai, Edwards, etc.).
If you go with CTS or RS you will have to ream the holes slightly for the larger shafts. Also get the short shaft pots, the long shaft are for thicker Gibson tops.
