hi Bear here, thats a japan model.awsome guitars.they are the same as the oreville by gibson same thing.there is 4 on the net right now and they are sweet.these are exact quality as a gibson...do some research..take care. UPDate..sorry i was wrong .its got a 3 hole truss cover .my bad people..dont know what it is...altered ??? its still a guitar and its bad a...

I thought that at first glance, too, but the MIJ open books have two hole truss rod covers and this has three.

The "G" in Gibson on the TRC also looks to be in a different font than the rest of it. It is bolder and a has serifs.

hi bear again earlier i said this was the japan model BUT, the truss cover has the 3 holes not 2 .so somone altered this guitar hate to say it but i havent seen one like this before...not w/ the 3 hole truss rod cover openbook....hmmmm???

The thing I spotted right off was the font used for the serial number on back. That looked weird right from the start for me. That and the 3 screw TRC. All MIJ open books have 2 hole TRC similar to Gibsons.
