NGD! Epi LP Special

Hey everybody, I'm kinda new around here. Enjoy my NGD! Great little beater. The p90s are about a thousand times better then I expected and the guitar feels amazing.

It's amazing how many people hated on that guitar and now, with P90s, it's a hit... Lord almighty...

I've played a few examples of each (The new tv yellows with humbuckers, the tv yellows with p90s, and the older ones with humbuckers) and I have to say, the newer ones with satin finishes seem to be a lot better. As far as playability and sound go, anyway. The stock pickups on the humbucker models are not that great on either model, but I was pleasantly surprised by these p90s.

It's amazing the tricks the brain can play on you. I got one for my kid years ago, set it up fine, it was a good starting guitar. But here? They never got a chance... change the finish and throw in some chinese pickups and voila, change of attitude. lol

It definitely was not my mind playing tricks on me. The examples I played of the older ones (and the two I owned, one having to be returned because of a massive neck issue) were, IMO, not as good. With that said, it's all my opinion, and you have yours. I'm glad you got a good guitar out of it.

Wasn't about you bro, it was about the reaction you get from lots of people here. I've been here for a while and sometimes you see things you can't even begin to understand when it comes to these things.

I use a simple rule. If it sounds good, it's good, and when it comes to cheap guitars that rule prevails for me. It's different when I deal with an expensive guitar, but with the cheap stuff there is crap and also some gems out there.

Re: NGD! Epi LP Special

I'm thinking these have Wilkinson Pickups since they are not marked 'epiphone' on the top wrap or anywhere on the baseplate. No stamps except F and B on them....like Wilkinsons' OEM type pickups. If I could go back sand verify the F and B are directly in the center between the spacings I could say for sure.
Just Like these but in ebony:
