Re: Can someone tell me the secret of this guitar sound???
Its not just the pickups never is IMO , but looks like he's playing a stock gibson SG standard. Your sound is pretty heavy too man.

Re: Can someone tell me the secret of this guitar sound???
well...just to mention...anytime you have a recorded guitar (or vox, or anything) you really are talking about what the studio has used to get that sound...mics, placement, preamps, and in this example COMPRESION...I think there is a lot on the guit. track...(it also sounds like it was heavily processed inside of the computer, ie: could be guitar rig and other goodies...after another listen I changed my mind on this BUT...I DO HAVR A BAD COLD AND MY ABILITY TO REALLY HEAR SUBTLE TONE DIFFERENCE IS GONE AT THIS MOMENT.......but it sound like the typicall "heavy metal amp type thing"...
CHECK THIS OUT FOR IDEAS: netmusicians.org - the guitar gear mp3 database when you are searching for tone stuff it really is best to go with live recordings...or even better be there live yourself (and get there early and find a good seat where you can hear the acoustics...walk around while listening to the pre show music untill it sound as balanced as possible)

Re: Can someone tell me the secret of this guitar sound???
Hard to say whats going on ther , Good Mashall or other high gain amp plus studio Eq. etc. I would guess the pickups would be or should I say the pickups IMO that would work are any potted PAF Type. in the Gibson new production that would be the classic 57s or the BB pros or the 490/498 models. He could have what ever.
If you get back on you tube check out. ......."riffguy" I like him a Canadian guy the vid. he has my guitar has something to say is nice he makes alot of his own pickups PAF type low output. |

Re: Can someone tell me the secret of this guitar sound???
one thing i learned is a good sound engineer can really make the difference. theres a few artists out there that put out some unbelievable stuff in the studio, one of my favorites is like that, but live they sound like hot buttered doo doo. best thing to do is try to emulate what you hear, but if you cant dont get mad, remember, its not just a pedal board/rack unit amp and guitar they have, theres a lot more equipment in a studio

Re: Can someone tell me the secret of this guitar sound???
+1 on the Compression.
Guitar #2 that comes in at 0:08 sounds like it's run through a harmonizer, or whammy, or it could be run thru Auto-tune. |
