NPD (handmade)

Just got these in from Japan last night and thought they were pretty cool, so I figured I'd post a pic of them.

Both are made by hand in Japan. One is made out of Rosewood and is pretty thick, the other is made out of tortoise shell and is just a little thicker then a medium sized.

They sound cool though. The shell pick has a really bright and crisp attack. At first I was a bit hesitant in using it, fearing it might break or splinter. But it's actually really durable!!

I love my Dunlop picks, but I'm considering trying to get more of the shell ones. I really like them. There's something oddly cool and organic about using a pick that came from an animal.

Hmm, not sure if I'm with you on that one... But enjoy the picks anyhow!

No different then a bone nut that comes from a cow really.

Or wood that comes from a tree?

Wait'll PETA here's about this LOL!

Seriously though, what about the rosewood pick, what does that do for tone?

Re: NPD (handmade)

It's pretty soft sounding. It doesn't get a click/attack when it's used.

It really seems good for chord strumming.

And I'm told the tortoise shell pick in no way comes from an endangered animal or anything. They've got tons of turtles over their because they eat them in soup.

Like here we have tons of cows, so a bone nut made from cow is not considered strange.

In India, a bone nut might be a little more looked down on. Lol.
