I think so.. The Slash EPI to me still feels like an EPI.. No comparison. But for the price, I wouldn't expect it to be.

Guitar Center told the guy that they will not be making it?? I find it hard to believe that they have not been made yet. Maybe not sold..

Doesn't sound right when other dealers and even oversead distributors haven't said anything similar and even talked about delivery dates (July or there abouts)

This guitar, & the lack of information concerning it's shipping date / availability is absurd.

If Epiphone doesn't want my money there's plenty of other gear that I currently have my eye on & I'm sure that they would be happy to take my money in rapid fashion.

Whomever is in charge of the Budokan guitars should be spanked...hard.

Hello Everyone!!!
I spoke to our Gibson Rep. last month he's said they have no clue when it will in store. we will know before him.
but here's few things to consider.

#1 it's a new product
#2 it's a signature model
#3 it's a limited Edition
#4 it's an outfit with few goodies
#5 it has higher quality standard because of the 4 factors above.
#6 being made in china, maybe they are waiting to have a full container being shipped over sea (not with only the Ace Frehley model but all other models as well)

with my experience with Gene Simmons Punicher last year.
released at namm 2011. it was instore in early september.
so .... Yes be patient.
but it will meet our expectations (.... I hope

I find this unlikely. The seizure of Gibson's wood supply was due to a difference in the way India and the U.S. view the product. India says that fingerboard blanks are a "finished product" and are legal to export. The U.S. says that they are a "raw material" and not legal to import.

I'd assume that the rosewood for Epiphones goes directly to China and only enters the U.S. when it is truly a 100% finished product, a complete guitar, which I think that the U.S. can't argue is a "finished product" unaffected by the laws causing problems for Gibson U.S.A.

first off, because of all of the previous setbacks I wouldnt be suprised at anything that pushed out this thing any further but I have no reason to think that Epiphone would pull the plug so late in the game, guitars are sold, advertisements have already been made and they are dealing with some pretty upset customers...pulling the plug wouldnt make sense. They (Epi) could easily convert other les pauls into the new Budokan at very least if they had import/export issues...lets not forget Epi is still exporting guitars to the US, so its not like other shipments havent been made. I would bet that there was probably some small production issue that held up the shipment, paint color, binding, case, who knows...If Epi was going to pull the plug they wouldnt have cut orders in half, they would have cut them all. I would bet that we will start seeing them show up in Mid June...I hope.

on another note, do you guys think ace is getting royalties on the Gib USA 2,229.00 version? I noticed there is no signature on the trus rod cover, nothing special with the case..the 90's version had steel "Ace" signature cover plate on the back, from what I see the USA Gibby has plastic cream covers??.I would have liked to see at LEAST a signature on the trus cover for that price point...sounds silly but even if I had $2300 I would prefer the Epi version for all the extras...trus rod cover, numbered COA, stenciled case, sticker, faded finish on back.

Steve's in Montreal in back of the guitar room, all the high end guitars are that wall newly paint in red 2 - 3 years ago.
