Well, spoke with AMS today. I also received the " cancelation " notice a few days ago. They stated that there order went from 60 to 30, so if you ordered after January 26 th, chances are your out. (my order was on 1/29). So I guess it was to good to be true. Hard to believe that out of 1000 guitars AMS would wind up with only 30. All I can hope for is to score one at my local Sam ash or guitar center. I would imagine that the " brick and mortar" stores would at least get one or two to display. Oh well, I'm actually considering buying a late 70's early 80's custom and having the ace mods done by my local guitar tech.

IMO: The USA looks pretty cool, but the one thing I'm not too keen about is the richlite fretboard. If you don't care about that, I think it's nice even aside from the fact that it's a sig model.

You forgot to add the customs duties and taxes (unless where you're at don't charge any).

All bad news lately on these guitars. Has anyone from Australia heard anything as my local shop hasn't heard anything and emailed the importer but no reply. Order placed and deposit paid.

I got my pre-order cancelled by one "reputable" shop in Brisbane last month (also refunded my deposit of course). Another shop said they're expecting only one piece (of course I will not tell you which one

) so they're charging AUD 1,950 including shipping. That said, good luck to both of us mate. Else you can look at the other way and try searching for a different model like what members have already suggested/done as a back up plan.

Alternatives, guess either an Epiphone Black Beauty or an Ultra III with its electronics.

So, my alternative showed up today...I love it...but I started thinking about my situation and went to my local GC, they didnt even have a clue about an Epi Budokan, he (store manager) said there arent any listed on the GC site, of course I said, it hasnt been released yet, presales have been sold out since Feb. He said they werent expecting any at his store but he would keep an eye out in the event one shows up...so basically he threw out my info as soon as I walked out the door im sure. I suppose since they havent officially been released to the public yet there is always a slight chance I will be able to score one once they start shipping who knows...on another note, does anyone know the difference between a LP plus top, and a LP plus top pro?

Just got off the phone with American Musical Supply. The Rep did confirm they cancelled the last 30 orders. They were supposed to get 60 guitars but now they are only getting 30. He said all the cancel notices have been sent out already, so if you did not get one yet you should be OK.

That, I would believe, is as how much it's being offered for sale in the US shops (GC, MF, etc.). But for us it'll go MSRP or a little more than that, so it'll be like AUD 3,000 or higher... sad to say that.

That's what I figured as well but thought no harm in asking just in case.

I got an (automated?) e-mail from MF last night regarding my backorder - said I had to contact them or it would be automatically cancelled...

Called this morning and confirmed to stay on the list - I told the gal on the line that I had heard "July" and she confirmed that's what their system is showing...

Been speaking with my local store (who I ordered through) and another Australian based store and both indicated the guitars are due in late June / early July (or 6 to 8 weeks time).

They also indicated that the Australian Gibson distributor has stated that all Australian stock has been sold or accounted for.
