Re: New ace confirmed!!

Just got off the phone with Sweetwater. With NAMM going on, they won't have any detailed info other than "yeah we're gettin some" for a few more days. I like the fact they they will inspect your axe prior to shipment and do anything else you may want.

I always had good service with MF too. I likes free shipping and no sales tax

Re: New ace confirmed!!

Since I had to pass on the Gibson run, I'm hoping to get one of the Epiphones when they become available...but I'm still not sure if it's going to be in the budget.

I'm hoping...& saving.

Re: New ace confirmed!!

Well my resolution this year was to get out of debt. This isnt helping and the better half made me aware of that... :-) In a very sweet and loving way.
Still, Everything I hated about the 1st one they have solved on this one. Not a fan of the yellow on the sides and neck... and Im curious how the middle pickup is wired. The last one was wired to the bridge pickup.

Re: New ace confirmed!!

Hello Everyone:

I really like it, but my main complaint with epiphones and their signature models is this, why use the large post bridges?.

it makes the guitar look cheap, in Japan they use the small posts, but for the USA market the only ones that get the small posts is USA reissues and Elitist models.

they said they worked closely with Ace and copied his original, sure it is an epiphone but the hardware should match, if I get one, the first thing going is the bridge and tailpiece.

sorry if I sounded mean people, if you are paying more for a signature, they should offer better hardware as well.

I mean $10 - $20 difference for a better bridge is not going to break the bank in the price tag

take care
George

Understand completely.

My Wife & I just finished year one of our three year plan & have made incredible progress...& that makes me happy.

It's tough when things like this come around as I actually have to save the cash versus just pulling out the ole' guitar center card & presto. I want this guitar as I'm a huge Ace fan, but If I don't have the cash in hand I won't be making the purchase.

In the meantime, I have a great Zakk Epiphone for sale...if you know anyone that might be intrested

Check out my avatar; hell yeah I want one ! I've always liked the old Ace models but couldn't stand that cheesy pic of Ace on the headstock, I like that this one doesn't have that.
I will try to score one !

Well, I'm GASin real bad for this one. looks like my tax return is gonna be spent on one, plus mrs marker gets something of equal value to keep peace in the house.

Wonder if this will drive the price down on the first versions. Personally, I like this custom better

Re: New ace confirmed!!

I'm not a Kiss fan, or Ace or anything like that. (Just never got into them, and I'm a little younger than some of you guys). BUT that being said - it looks like a great guitar, and I am soooo grateful they didn't put the cartoon-y face on the headstock. I much prefer this headstock to previous sig models. It just looks better built without it.

Spec wise, looks nice, and I'm sure it'd scream. Don't know that I'll have the money for one though. (Need to replace my Squier P-bass and am looking hard at Fender J-Basses)

I love what Epi has done here. I'm not a 3 pup fan either however. I love the volute. I wish they would build something of this quality in a two pup guitar, with Burstbuckers of course but I'd settle for the Dimarzio PAF's. Having said all this, I'm still putting one of these on my wish list.

Re: New ace confirmed!!

Hang on something to remember is..... a DiMarzio™ PAF "style" pickup
So they arent real PAFs.... but a close knock off that Dimarzio can produce faster and in quick demand. They did this with the last Ace Epi with the Dimarzio "USA" super distortions. The difference was huge!! That was one of the first things I did when I rewired mine!

I think in a true playable guitar form depending on how they are wired.... Your tone is limited.
