Serial number help.

I've been collecting serial number data from various fakes and I have found something curious. Most serial numbers I have found have 8 digits, 10 if you include the EE. Some however have 9, or 11 if you include EE. My 06 Epi has 8, or 10 if you include EE. Any one know more about this?

The production number sometimes is shorter from what i am thinking.

But would they sell 10000 guitars a month, so they would need to add an extra digit?

Its a possibility we don't really know number of people working in the QingDao factory. If it is like normal Chinese fashion they would have thousands working in there like a sweatshop (apple does the same thing with Ipods)

Mine is a used epiphone, so the serial numbers were stamped out. Also i covered the back of the headstock with stickers so......Sorry i can't vote, but i'll research this for you k?

Hmm, I did some googling couldn't find much on this. You wanna try emailing gibson for now, because I gotta go lay down not feeling to great after the buffet.

Mine has one numeral "F" and six numbers, 7006##.

Hope that helps.

Mine has nine. I think they probably would need another number due to the large numbers of guitars they produce. But I don't know. I'm gonna go and try to find so details and I'll let you know if I find something.
