Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
Maybe its the same place that makes the Elitist and
Signature models. The quality of the work is really as good as the Gibson 57 Jr's. I found an article that mentions the Epiphone Custom Shop from the Epiphone site. .............................. Ltd. Ed. RIPPER Bass - The Ripper is back from the past with a few new features straight from the Epiphone Custom Shop. Epiphone Musical Instruments - News

Nice very nice. And that custom shop logo adds a nice touch as well.

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
I bought one of these earlier this year. Really nice guitar, but had to level a few frets as I was getting a lot of buzzing on the D string. I've since replaced the P100 with a Bare Knuckles P90, and replaced the rest of the electronics.
I also picked up a Gibson LP Junior uncompensated tailpiece on Ebay which I put on as well. I don't normally modify my guitars but as this one was relatively cheap (for the UK anyway) and pretty simple I thought I'd give it a go .... and I'm pleased with the results. The other thing is this is the heaviest guitar I've ever played! p.s Just joined the forum, so treat me nice

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
My frets were perfect, and very low action,
the only thing i need to do was raise the pickup up a little, i did that witha couple of metal spacers under the rabbit ears and increased the ouput right away, i love the P-100 sound, probably the only Epiphone pickup ive never changed out. yes it is as heavy as a les paul

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
I bought one from musicians friend this past spring. I got the yellow. The first thing that I noticed was the weight, they really have a good heavy feel to them.
Aside from a little sloppy paint work here and there, I was impressed with the quality of it. I did replace the stacked p100 with a gibson p90. One thing I also noticed was that the gibson p90 dog ear wouldnt line up exactlly with the strings, the hi E and B strings were more than 1/8th off, so I had to actually remove a little wood from the side of the pickup cavity so the p90 would slide over and line up properly. other than that, a great deal for $300 |

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop

Hi, Just wondering what you upgraded the electronics to? I've just bought one of these Epi's brand new and I'm thinking about some upgrades. Mine also has bad fret buzz most of the way up the low E and the pole pieces don't line up with the strings. Apart from that I absolutely LOVE it :-) I'm considering a Lollar P-90 and a badass bridge and poss a tusq nut and upgrade pots and cap. Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
There's a Epi custom shop sticker on back of the upper neck of the 56 reissue LP's also.
I thought maybe they were on all Epi LP's? |

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
Not from what I've seen really, but they do seem to apply it to all sorts of models. My LP Jr has one, and my Casino has one, but I've seen plenty of Epi LP's that don't have the Custom Shop logo. It's not a sticker, but is silk-screened onto the neck, like the main Epi logo on the headstock.

Re: Les Paul Jr 57' Reissue Limited Edition Custom Shop
I also have the '57 RI JR. I added Pigtail bridge, really nice. An RS Vintage kit replaced the pots and caps. I went from a P100 to a Gibson P90 to a J.S. Moore +5% P90. Now that thing rips.
My '56 GT RI w/P90's also has a Custom shop logo on the back of the headstock. Neil |
