I know this isnt an Epiphone, but need info

Any idea what kind of guitar this is or what its worth? Its my wifes Dad's guitar hes had tucked away since the 50's, and Im betting its worth a pretty penny. I do know its a 12 string hollowbody electric, I just dont know anything about the maker.

Go here:

MyRareGuitars.com >> 1960's Vintage Guitars - Vintage Guitars, EKO, Burns, Teisco, Silvertone, Fender, Gibson, Mosrite

There is a photo of a similar guitar. Perhaps the owner of the company can help you out.

Well, my wife is 50, and she says her dad played it for her when she was around 8 or 9, so Im thinking its (without seeing it, I just have the pics) a Finnish Landola which was distributed in the U.S. as Espana in 1966 maybe? One I get a look at it I will know more. Im guessing that makes it pretty rare.

That's an awesome find.

Speaking of Mosrite (dennis' post), a town near me, Leachville, AR, has some kind of super rare Mosrite in the theatre. Let me see if I can look it up.

Re: I know this isnt an Epiphone, but need info

From Wikipedia
Quote:
Though a genius at guitar design and construction, Moseley lacked many basic skills necessary to be a good businessman, and the company fell on hard times repeatedly in the late 1960s and 1970's, but continued to produce Mosrite guitars until 1993 in North Carolina and Arkansas. Most of them were exported to Japan, where their popularity remained very strong. The quality of the instruments always remained very respectable. Semie Moseley died in 1992. His wife Loretta continued to produce Mosrites a year or so after his death. Today the Japanese company Fillmore holds the right to the name Mosrite and produces reissues of Ventures Model and a Johnny Ramone Signature model.
Kurt Cobain's Mosrite Gospel Guitar (one of only two 'Mark IV gospels') was featured in an online auction by Heritage Auction Galleries [1]in Dallas, TX, fetching $131,450.00.
The factory was there in Leachville (if i'm not mistaken) and they have one of the last Mosrite's produced in America at the Melody Theatre there.

Thanks! So far, the problem Im running into is that there were a lot of distributers back then for this style of guitar, Hagstrom and Landola were both being made/sent to countries under different names, Espana in the US and Canada, but if its Canada, it would be too late, since they started distributing 35 years ago from what I see. (69, 70ish). Would be VERY interested in this. Thanks again, DJ

Re: I know this isnt an Epiphone, but need info

Thanks for those links, Gibbie. I dropped Fetishguitars an email, we'll see what they say. As far as whether or not he got it from Canada, I dont think he did because I looked the history up, and Canada didnt start getting them until 69' or 70' and he got his earlier than that. THAT has got me a bit excited, because I think that if its the case, it might be either a Landola or a Hagstrom, both of which are top quality guitar makers whove been around since 1905. That should jack the value up significantly. Especially being a 12 string. Will update when I know more. Waiting on that email.

Now that's a father-in-law. I guess its not like he could use it, but still, I know father-in-laws that wouldn't give their son-in-law the time of day.

LOL, he doesnt know hes giving it to me..LMAO, The curator has already promised it to me. Hes pretty old, definitely senile and told his kids that the day he dies, each if them get one dollar... Because thats what his Dad did to him.
Hes an untreated bi-polar who refuses to take medicine, so hes been this way for years. It really is sad to see him go this way. His kids are hovering over him like a buzzard waiting for his turn at a dead animal after the lion is finished so they can get whatever they want from him once hes gone. It really is sad.
And they all will be drooling to get that guitar just to get the money from it.
Edit: That would EXCLUDE my wife and I. I know they are all heading for the house and that guitar as a way to get something from him, but the poor guy doesnt have anything, and yet these sickos think he does. If I do indeed get the guitar, I will cherish that dang thing. Its beautiful, and they dont make em like that anymore.

Re: I know this isnt an Epiphone, but need info

I got an update on the guitar, the gentleman that runs Welcome to Fetishguitars.com emailed me back. Surprisingly, its Italian made, and only one of 600 made.

Heres his response:

Very beautiful guitar, all original, in fantastic condition..
Made in Castelfidardo, Italy, by the Crucianelli company:
Fetishguitars.com - CRUCIANELLI - ELLI-SOUND - ELITE

in this factory (which is now a hotel):
Fetishguitars.com - CRUCIANELLI - ELLI-SOUND - ELITE

in 1967-68 (40 year old, FORTY) — your gracious wife did see her
father play it when she was 9.
Fetishguitars.com - CRUCIANELLI - ELLI-SOUND - ELITE

see also:
Fetishguitars.com - CRUCIANELLI - ELLI-SOUND - ELITE

Almost all instruments of that generation have a serial nr engraved on
their neck plate, generally between 0600 and 1200 — just out of
curiosity, which nr has this one?

Hope that helps,

Jack Marchal
Montjavoult, France

I dont know the serial number, Im going to have to get it and find out which one it is.
