Yep, black is the WORSE for keeping clean. As for a good cleaner, I love
Virtuose cleaner and polish. Here's some examples of what it has done for me...

Re: So.... my guitar comes tomorow

Hey there!
I got the ebony standard as well. It's not really hard to keep clean, you'll need a decent cleaning cloth, but that's about it.
If you really wanna make it shine though, you'll need a polish.
They are hard to keep clean yes, it is true that everything shows, just press your finger on the finish when you get it and you'll see
The word ebony applies to the finish, the guitar has a plain maple top.
And yes they are heavy, mine is over 4kg, that should be around 9lbs unless I am mistaken.
Congrats on the guitar, you'll love it! I know I do

You can expect a pretty crappy guitar.

Just kidding. You'll love it. Dont worry about getting it dirty, it can always be cleaned

Yep, that was a special Custom. I just sold it to another forum member and it is on its way to Canada right now. That was truly the result of several intense months of searching to find a nice flame top Custom (this was before they started rolling out all those nice 68 Customs with figured tops). I'll miss her but life goes on...

Yeah, I just bought a new Epi LP STD Plustop and there's no way it weights 9lbs. Did you order a hardcase with it as well? Did you buy brand new or did the guitar have a previous owner?

The black is gonna be hell to keep clean I would think. I have the Vintage Sunburst and even that shows every little fingerprint, especially around the black areas.

Congrats on your purchase, I bought mine about 2 weeks ago and my poor Strat hasn't seen the light of day since.

Slowhand0461 and myself just installed new Rockfield SWCs pickups (bridge & neck), 2 orange drop capacitors, new tone switch, jack and mine plays like a Million Bucks! I couldn't be happier!

****************Big shoutout to Slowhand0461 for the pickup & capacitor install, there's not a shop in all of Raleigh, NC that could have done it any better! ************

Welcome and congratulations on the new guitar elpept, waiting is hard but it will be worth it.

Yeah, Ebony is a b*tch to keep clean but damn if they aren't downright pretty when they are.

Well I would definately look into getting a hardcase, it's almost insane to buy a guitar without one.

BTW- Why does your sister care wether you get a guitar or not?

Because we have 4 guitars (3 of which are her guitar's - an acoustic, a broken explorer, and stratocaster.) and my broken acoustic which cost me like 60 bucks, a very cheap guitar. It won't stay in tune and the strings broke the first day.

And she doesn't like me using her guitar!!!!!
