Had several Epi's and now I'm here, weee

my first Epi was a '96 bolt on neck with Gibson on the truss cover (lost in pawn).

second was a Dot (sold to buy an amp)

third was Standard (who's headstock fell off) and gave Gibson a hard time on sending me a new guitar

the one i currently have is a studio that i'm refinishing because i never done it before and it's a cheep enough guitar to do it to and done right, it'll look like the most expensive i own

i'll post pics up soon - refinishing the sides, back and neck down to bare wood then tung oil finish with 6 coats then buff for a semi-gloss natural look.

looks good and hoping the guitar doesn't fall apart because the paint is off, lol

i have a love/hate relationship with Epi

That sounds great. Have you got any pictures at all so far? It sounds like a nice idea. Are you leaving it the natural wood finish?

Re: Had several Epi's and now I'm here, weee

yeah, i'm leaving the natural wood finish. it's actually very nice and the neck reminds me of a Gibson neck a friend of mine sanded down and refinished with tung oil...

a bolt-on neck flying v i once sanded down was a ply but this epi (glued neck) is solid pieces of wood glued together...the mahogany top is very thin though, just enough to help make the curved top- that isn't noticed unless you look at the cut away but yeah, pics coming soon...it's my first time and very sloppy procedure - lol, i researched after i began the work, not smart but next time i know what to do for a pristine finish
