Pot Question. What do I have?

Hello. I opened up the back of my Elitist Les Paul and took some pics.
If somebody can tell me what kind of pots these are.
They have no number on them.
Would they benefit from being upgraded.
thanks

Re: Pot Question. What do I have?

I'd bet they have numbers on the sides of the pots, but that looks like what comes stock in the Elitists.

Sure you can change them out if you really want to. Do you dislike the taper or anything specific about them? If not, I'd just as well leave them alone.

Re: Pot Question. What do I have?

If anything I would change those caps to Orange drops, or PIO caps..

By switching to some of those will it change the tone alot?
The guitar sounds great to me and my instructor. My father loves to play it as well. I was checking some threads over on tonefreak section and it got me thinking of changing different things. the caps seem to be a pretty cheap and easy modification ti do. thanks for the responses guys.

Re: Pot Question. What do I have?

It would be a cheap upgrade, and would probably be the most significant tone upgrade for the money. Yes, it will change the tone. However, if you are happy with the tone for now, just leave it, play and enjoy it. Later if you decide to do some upgrades, at that time you will be more educated in what you are wanting to do with it. Make the changes you want then based on what you have learned.

Re: Pot Question. What do I have?

Taper is how the pot operates. Some pots have a better taper than others. Some seem to do nothing until you reach about 3 on the knob then go silent. Good ones have a consistent difference between each number on the knob.

Make sense?

i was wondering about that myself. thanks for clearing that up.

mine do exactly as you mentioned. very little difference in the volume taper until you hit about 2-3 and then dead silent
