I think we may need to make an account called FakeEpiphone. Then we bid outrageously high on things and not pay for them if they are fake.

Theres a guy out there doing that already, hopefully on all the fakes weve reported.

Yep, its been asked, and answered by me before, so here we go again- They fake them for the same reasons they fake handbags and tennis shoes and jeans- bulk sales. Its easier to fake and sell Epis because you can sell a lot more of them because they are affordable.

Theres not as many on Ebay anyway. That website they mentioned earlier is loaded with Gibbies tho.

Yeah it took me a while to find that fake BB, which is a nice thing. What site is this though with the fake Gibsons?

What do you guys reckon about this guitar:

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar CS - eBay (item 250260710971

I've won the bid for this for £175 (about $350) but I haven't paid for it yet. the guy supposedly lives locally so i'm picking it up on Thursday.

Initially I thought it was genuine. Sadly there is no pic of the headstock but the screw in the pick-guard looked in the right position and the guy has 100% positive response but I guess that might just mean a lot of people can't spot fakes. A few things have me worried:

1. He wants me to meet a 'friend' of his at a local football stadium to complete the purchase rather than at an address.

2. I've asked for the serial number twice and he hasn't responded

3. I've noticed he has another CS plus top for sale now and he's using the same pics. I've emailed him to ask if I am buying the guitar I saw in the pics or whether these are just library pics and I'm buying something completely different. Every thing is screaming fake to me.

Dont think I'd be in too much of a rush to get there. And nowadays, even if he tells you the number, its probably used already. Plus, that guitar in the ad looks horrendously fake. That diamond backplate is WAYYY off. If you can go to Epiphone.com and look at an example then compare it, youll know what I am talking about. Plus, the pics tell me hes in no way gonna let you know what the headstock is all about. I think I'd send him packin'.

Edit: Look at all of his other sales! They are all fakes! Hes probably feelin the squeeze Ebay is putting on the counterfeits lately, thats why he wants to meet in person.
