THey have been doing quite a bit lately. I like to think we are doing our part in helping them quite a bit.

EDIT: The Lynyrd Skynyrd Is supposed to be a Goldtop, and his lettering is too skinny too.
Heres the site I looked at it to compare from.. DOnt know how reputable they are... zzsounds.com?

Epiphone Lynyrd Skynyrd 30th Anniversary Les Paul Electric Guitar from zZounds.com!
I hear they are pretty reputable. And yes I always thought the Lynyrd model was a gold top not a cherry burst or whatever, lol.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Hey guys, I lost the ability to edit the post, due to time. So now if I need to edit it I will have to PM flick. Right now I am compiling two lists.

What claims to stay away from. (Like when the seller claims the guitar comes straight from the factory in China)

What sellers to stay away from.

So far I have two on each list, the first list is posted on the thread. For what sellers to stay away from I have Slave_to_shopping, and KittyRock123, factoryguitars, thanks to Benniator and GNR4EVR from searching around. I would like to add to both of these lists, so I can PM Flick only once for a while. Thanks!!!

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Do you think it would help if we started some kind of petition or campain or something to get Ebay to post warning or an article on this subject. If when you search for epiphones a big red warning came up at the top of the page warning of fakes and how many of them are around also how to spot them, maybe less people would get stung by these jerks?

That would be nice if we could get it to happen. But, honestly I think the chances of that aren't very high.

They need to shut down the factory.. but that is close to impossible. So the next best thing is to educate people about these fakes.

Well, what they can do is shut down the real Epiphone factory and bring down the prices on Gibsons

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

What scares me is that they even have engraved pups now...

Epiphone Les Paul Custom Vintage Sunburst - eBay (item 230264053223 end time Jun-27-08 16:54:31 PDT)

To be honest, this looks the most accurate in all the fakes I've seen. Hell is it even FAKE? Apart from that cheezy casing, everything else look ok... though the tone knob of the neck pup seems abit off... or it could just be my eyes.

Yes, its fake. The trussrod cover is too rounded, the Epi logo is too close to the upper corner and the letters are too fat and hes hiding the serial number because he knows we know about the two letters being larger than the numbers. Look at his other guitars, they show that. Its telltale of all the fake customs. And the Pickups are probably photos from a real Epi, but not THIS one.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Whats the situation like with other Epiphones (Dots, Firebirds, etc) being faked? I know its a LP forum and hence concentrate on LP's but I just wondered if they were any tell tale signs for the rest of the Epi range.

Customs seem to have the same problems without a whole lot of difference and the standards and studios have their own. Tells me their coming from the same place.

Interesting point. I haven't heard of any faked Dots, Firebirds, etc... would be interesting to find if these are faked as well.

I honestly dont know about those, but I would be interested in finding out in the future. Right now, it seems the hot sellers are Les Pauls. Today alone, ive reported 5 guitars, and ebay has dumped all 5 of them. Guess they are finally listening.

Nice job man.

On the Les Paul instead of other guitars, its probably the fact that the LP retails for the highest I think, and the dot is probably harder to make considering its hallow-body. Not to mention the higer demand for LP's

Naw, its a lot of teamwork. Ebay, you guys, Gibson, everyone has a hand. Im just turning the scumbags in so honest folks dont have to worry about earning a living some day.
Gibson/Epiphone are the LAST factory I want to see get shut down or cut. I love their guitars, and they should stay forever American. It started here, let it stay here. Thats how it should be.

Agree'd, that is one regret I have about buying Epi's, they don't help our economy very much. But I still love them!

I wouldnt worry about that, Gibsons still making plenty on them through final assembly and inspection.

Its not really about Gibson making money, but every dollar spent multiplies into many because of taxes etc. A lot of that comes from labor. I just don't like giving my money to a country and it doesn't support our economy.
