Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Okey, so I promised pictures of my 1995 Korean (Samick plant) Epiphone Les Paul Standard, so here they come.

Here's the knobs and their alignment in coordination with the tailpiece:

Distance between tailpiece, bridge and neck pickup:

Pickguard mount:

Seam between the two top pieces:

Bridge detail:

Neck pocket:

Back, 4 pieces I can see:

Ugliest toggle switch you ever saw:

Stock pickup:

Headstock. The previous owner scribbled over the words "Gibson" on the TRC and "Model" with a black marker, for some reason:

Back of the headstock:

Tuner holes. This is 9mm:

Tuning machine:

Inlay work. All of them are like this:

One more image coming in next post, hold on.

Neck meets headstock:

So, if any of you own a guitar from the same era, you should have something to compare it to.

That guitar is Badass, so many interesting things about it! The inlays actually don't look that bad though. I chuckled when I saw the pick-guard mounted so high.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Well thank you (I hope)! On top of it all it plays like a dream, after I had the frets dressed and got a new nut installed a couple of months back.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Not really, it sustains a little less and sounds slightly brighter. It does bother me a tiny bit, that it's not a set neck, but it suits its purpose very, very well. They made them like this until 1998, not quite sure when they started.

Anyway, hope it will help someone.

Don't worry it is a compliment.

BTW guys, this news just made my day. I don't know how many of you know, but I bought a broken guitar for 100 dollars. Look at my pics on the first post, it is the Paul with the Heritage Cherry flame top. Well I found out today that the guy fixed it and he believes it is stronger than the original!!!!! Whooooo, I can't wait to get it back,.

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

I'm assuming that purchase of Epis from dealers like Guitar Center or Musiciansfriend.com can be trusted as reliable?

Re: The Fake Epiphone Thread!

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problem ordering from sites that are reputable dealers like Musicians friend and Guitar Center. Where you have to look out are these dodgy Chinese Sites or Ebay, especially the ".cn" ending sites, unless of course you are looking to buy a fake for whatever reason like I did.
